As of October 1, the DoD
Comptroller ordered NCTS
to increase there monthly
telephone business charges
from $43.07 to $69.36. This
increase will cause a 21 per-
cent upsurge in the overall
MWR Internet service
expenses. Due to this
increase the Internet pricing
policy has been amended as
follows:
The monthly internet sub-
scription fee will increase on
November 1 to $39 per
month. There will also be an
initial fee of $ 10 for each
new account opened. Each
additional email account will
be an extra $6 per month.
The reconnection fee will
decrease from $20 to $ 10.
The minimum refund/charge
will be $13. A modification
fee of $5 will be charged for
any changes to existing
accounts.
Customers will also have
a maximum of 10MB of web
storage and additional space
is available for a fee. Email
storage space will increase to
15MB per customer.
Customers that go TDY or
on leave and want to have
their account open will pay a
$25 monthly fee.
Some upcoming improve-
ments include: MWR
Internet Service Provider has
invested in a new server that
has 11 times the processing
power and six times the stor-
age capacity of the old one. It
is in the process of being
installed and should be up
and running by November 1.
It is fitted with new web mail
utility, improved spam con-
trol and new virus protection
for email.
Additionally the MWR
Internet Service Provider is
working on adding an ADSL
high-speed connection to our
service. The estimated start
date is February 2004.
