Single? Unaccompanied? Enlisted?
Calling all single/unaccompanied enlisted per-
sonnel... including all temporary duty (TDY) folks
visiting NAS Keflavik!! Did you know that there is
a special program designed just for you? The Lib-
erty Program focuses on meeting your recreation and
leisure needs, and strives to help you make the most
of your off-duty time. Even though this program is a
component of the Navy Single Sailor Program, all ser-
vice branches are warmly invited to take part in any
and all events. Windbreaker’s, located at Building
749, serves as home base for the Liberty Program. It
is conveniently located within walking distance of the
dormitories and billeting, next to Privateer’s Pub.
The Windbreaker is a great facility that offers
many amenities. Check your email, surf the web. or
work on your education from one of 10 computers.
Internet access and printing are available for FREE!
With the passionate “gamer” in mind, the Wind-
breaker has 4 plasma TV’s hooked up to X-Box and
Play Station 2 units. Choose from more than 30 X-
Box games and over 40 Play Station 2 games. Chal-
lenge your friends to some intense one-on-one gaming
action!
If you want to bring the competition back to real-
ity, battle it out with a friendly game of ping pong,
darts, or pool.
Afterwards,
head over to the
lounge area and
catch the latest
sporting events and
television shows
on the Windbreak-
er’s big screen TV.
You can also kick
back and enjoy
movies in the 16-
seat mini-theater.
Select a show
from a variety of
both new and clas-
sic movies. Don’t
forget to ask the
staff for FREE
popcorn to munch
on or grab a soda or candy from the vending ma-.
chines.
Looking for something more casual to do in
your spare time? The Windbreaker is equipped
with a lounge area. Curl up with a great book,
watch some videos from the
collection, or test your strategy
with board games. The Refer-
ence Center is stocked with maps
and information about Iceland to
make trip-planning a breeze for
you and your friends.
Aside from all of the compli-
mentary equipment provided for
you in the facility, the Liberty
Program offers awesome trips
and planned events, with pricing
tailored to fit into the single/un-
accompanied service member’s
budget. Be sure to pick up a
copy of the latest calendar of
events, available at the Wind-
breaker’s front desk or log on to

Here are some upcoming
event highlights to look forward
to this month:
Every Monday, the Wind-
breaker heads out to either Kefla-
vik or Reykjavik for dinner. This
is definitely one of the best ways
to acquaint yourself with local
restaurants before venturing on
your own. Just pay a small fee
for transportation and bring enough money to
match your appetite. Dine at Ny-Ung in Ke-
flavik, Fjorukrain - Fjorugardurinn (the Viking
Restaurant) in Hafnarfjordur, Restaurant Rain
in Keflavik, and TGI Fridays at the Smaralind
Mall during March with the Windbreaker.
Mark your calendars for the following
upcoming tournaments: Indoor Golf on Mar.
9, Darts Tourney on Mar. 16, and Dominos on
Mar. 30. All tournaments begin at 6 pm and
run until 9 pm. Participation is FREE and
prizes will be awarded to top winners.
On Mar. 11, enjoy the day in Reykjavik
touring three of the finest museums in Iceland.
Afterwards, sit down and unwind with some
great coffee and pastries at one of many cozy
cafes in the city. It’s only $10 for transporta-
tion, 500 ISK for admission that covers all of
the museums. Bring additional spending money
for your coffee and whatever tasty treats satisfy
your sweet tooth. This trip departs at 10 am
and returns at 5 pm.
If you haven’t gotten a chance to see
much of beautiful Iceland, don’t miss out
on the Windbreaker’s Golden Circle Tour,
Mar. 12. This tour opens your eyes to three
unique natural wonders in Iceland...Pingvellir,
Gullfoss, and the ever-spouting Geysir. You
will pass through picturesque countryside and
experience a whole new side of Iceland. Bring
snacks or money to buy something along the
way. Cost is $25 and this trip departs at 9 am,
returning to the base at 8 pm.

JOB Extremely WELL DONE!
MWR would like to recognize Airman Marco Proano for his
continuous outstanding performance. Marco has been working at the
MWR Warehouse since March 2004, and is a very dependable employ-
ee. “Whenever Marco is assigned a task, he accomplishes it without
hesitation and with attention to details,” said Warehouse Manager
Sabine Hinrichsen. Sabine Hinrichsen and MWR Director, Dennis
Merkel, both say that he is most valuable to MWR thanks to his expe-
rience and job knowledge. Marco is also an asset to the base for the
many hours he volunteers to
the community. Some of his
volunteer activities include
road race assistance, driving
visiting entertainment groups,
and assisting with base-wide
clean-up.
Marco also worked for
the NEX, and is currently a Three Flags
Club Delivery Driver on weekends. In his
personal time, he attends college classes
to accelerate himself and advance in his
military career.
Marco is always ready and willing to
assist in any way to support MWR and
the community. He is a great sailor and
MWR is proud to have him as part of
our team. Thank you, Marco for a job
