The request for help came from
Oceanic Air Control at Halifax,
Nova Scotia, at 11:44 a.m. Nine-
ty minutes later, an Air Force
HC—130 aircraft of the 57th Aero-
space Rescue and Recovery Squad-
ron was on its way to the crash
sight loaded with medical sup-
plies.
The Icelandair plane crashed
into a 1,600-foot mountain while
making a landing approach in dense

Faeroe group southeastof Iceland.
First reports of the crash
came from survivors who freed
themselves from the wreckage and

Tri-weekly Falcon
to have more
news, more often
More news more often is in
store for White Falcon readers in
the coming weeks.
Last Monday, a four-page run-
down of college and pro football
games was published in the first
issue of the Falcon SCOREBOARD.
Similar coverage of not only na-
tion-wide weekend gridiron action,
but also the World Series and
other sports will appear in Mon-
day SCOREBOARDS from now on.
Beginning next week, the White
Falcon will become a tri-weekly
publication, with the SCOREBOARD
coming out Mondays, a four-page
Falcon on Wednesdays and a six-
pager on Fridays.
By publishing three times a
week, we will be able to keep
more up to date with current news
and sports than in the weekly
edition.
Movie and TV schedules, classi-
fied ads, Alan Markow's Tale
Feathers column and feature sto-
ries will appear in the Friday
paper with no change in the week-
ly deadlines.
All Falcon publications will
be ready for distribution on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday af-
ternoons before 3. Family quar-
ters residents will have the Fri-
day Falcons delivered to their
homes.
