concert
Everyone is invited to hear the big band sounds of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet Band, “Atlantic Express.” This
concert is free and will be held Wednesday night at Andrews Theater. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the
concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Cost of Living Allowance increases 18%
Sept. 15 or when they receive their next
The Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)
increased approximately 18% for all U.S.
military personnel as of Aug. 16. It is com-
puted based on the service member’s rank,
time in service, single or married, number of
dependents and whether the member re-
ceives comrats.
The COLA rate is determined by the ex-
change rate and the cost of goods purchased on
and off base. The COLA index in Iceland is
126, which means that the cost of living is 26
percent more expensive than it is in the U.S.
Navy members on Direct Deposit can expect
to see the increase in their Sept. 1 paycheck.
Members who receive paychecks distributed
locally will see the increase approximately
Leave and Earnings Statement.

School officially begins Monday. Approxi-
mately 230 students are enrolled at A.T. Mahan
High School and nearly 700 students enrolled
at A.T. Mahan Elementary School. Teacher
and student class listings for the elementary
school will be posted on the front door of the
school today at 5 p.m. The following calendar
for the 1992-93 school year applies to both
schools.

Reduced lunches
The Naval Air Station j^IAS) Supply Offi-
cer is accepting applications for the free or
reduced priced school lunch program. The
purpose of this program is to provide free or
reduced-priced nutritional meals to qualified
students attending Department of Defense
Dependents Schools here. To apply for the
program, contact the NAS Food Service Offi-
cer at ext. 2719/2220 and for those who have
previously been approved for the program, you
may call the above numbers to verify contin-
ued eligibility. Enrollment in the program is
kept confidential.
