Vinnum saman Þekkingarstjórnun er að myndast og mótast þó ýmis- legt hafi gengið á og ekki allir hafi trú á þessum nýju fræðum. Mikilvægt er að ná fólki saman í félagsskap, fólki sem hefur ólíka starfsreynslu og margþættan fræðilegan bakgrunn. Láta þetta fólk vinna saman að þekkingarstjórnun. Það er einmitt markmið Félags um þekkingarstjórnun.. Stjórn félagsins fagnar þeim mikla áhuga sem bókasafnsfræðingar hafa sýnt félaginu en fjöldi þeirra hefur nú þegar gengið til liðs við félagið. The objectives of the association include that of encouraging Icelandic knowledge managers to work together and that of introducing and presenting KM in industry, among scholars and the general public. The article describes how the Icelandic KM association was formed at a critical juncture in the development of knowledge management in general. Of late there has been grow- ing criticism on KM. The field is said not to be clearly defined, that it has been used as a selling buzzword for bad computer software etc. The response of the association to this criticism will be to focus on scien- tific research and knowledge management practice in the workplace. The field in general and in Iceland in particular must be constructed as an independent discipline if the confusion about what the field stands for is to be avoided. Library and information managers have a central role in both KM research and practical work. We therefore see it as especially fortunate that a number of Icelandic Librarians took part in forming the Icelandic KM Association. BÓKASAFNIÐ 29. ÁRG. 2005 43
