This paper describes a visit to the bird-

cliff Látrabjarg in July 1956. A description

is given og the cliff and cyclic processes

involving the falling off of more or less

vegetated parts of the cliff at their sub-

sequent recolonization by vegetation. Fift-

een bird species were observed. An acco-

unt is given of distribution, nesting habitat

and in some cases approximate numbers of

the breeding seabird species. Traditional

local methods of exploiting the seabirds of

the cliff are described.
