Kolur and kisa
Then Arni ca.me along and said:
"Shame, - Kolur, - shame.
You must not scare my little cat."
But Kolur only wanted to play with the
cat,
he is such a good dog.
Arni took the cat
and put her beside Kolur.
Now the cat was not afraid of Kolur.
She said: "Meow, meow."
And Kolur said: "Woof, woof."
Now they were friends
and played together.
Kolur og kisa
Þá kom Árni og sagði:
„Svei, - Kolur, - svei.
Þú mátt ekki hræða kisu litlu."
En Kolur vildi bara leika við
kisu,
hann er svo góður hundur.
Árni tók kisu
og setti hana hjá Kol.
Nú var kisa ekki hrædd við Kol.
Hún sagði: „Mjá, mjá."
Og Kolursagði: „Voff, voff."
Nú voru þau vinir
og léku sér saman.

Kites and
Dreams

he stands poised for flight
his young heart soaring
on wings ofsong
as his kite swoops up
slowly circling
in the crystal air
then drifting spiraling
sky-dancing
irídescent
against the radiant sun.
across the street
an old man dreams
ofkites
lost threads
as he siowly unravels
the hem edges oftime.

I surely think on nights like this
And dismal days that follow
At a time when all there is
Seems empty as a hollow
We should drink to brighter nights
When songs are set to bellow
Sunny days and worthy fights
