Congratulations to a very "special lady”
illa was born at Vedi-
viodlum, on the farm in the
Minerva district, in the days
when this could indeed be called
New Iceland. She was brought up
with the Icelandic language and cus-
toms.
Dilla attended Minerva
Elementary School and went on to
Gimli High School. She found work
at Lakeside, and other Gimli busi-
nesses, later enrolling and graduating
from Misericordia School of
Nursing, working in various hospitals
across Canada and a time in
Bermuda.
Dilla was active in all areas of
nursing. She served on the executive
of the Nurses Association for many
years. Always ready to venture out
and try something new, she travelled
to many places, made countless
friends with whom she still has close
contacts, always the friend to rely on.
Well organized and articulate,
Dilla has all important events in his-
tory, and events of her family in
records and albums.
On retirement from nursing, Dilla
would pursue her next career in poli-
tics. She became councillor for the
town of Gimli, and has served as
Deputy Mayor.
Even though she has not married
and has no family of her own, she is
indeed the “matriarch” of the
Narfason family, organizing and host-
ing family gatherings in her home.
Dilla never forgets a family birthday
from the oldest to the youngest.
Dilla is very considerate and kind,
ready to help those in need, her
home is always open to relatives and
friends.
Dilla is indeed a very “special
lady”. The family congratulates her
on being chosen Fjallkona for the
1994 Icelandic Festival.
