Fate and the weather man were good on opening day
for the Keflavik Little League.
The fighting Tigers came out on top over the Braves
with the score—Tigers 32, Braves 5. Mike Babneau, with
little experience, pitched a most impressive game, striking
out 15. The hitting was about evenly divided.
Considering the short and rainy*®*
week to practice in, both teams
looked very good. The hitting
punch for the Braves was shared
by Royalty and Smith.

With the weather still holding
good on Tuesday night the Dodgers
came out slugging with Heller
hitting three home runs and Bar-
bacci adding one. Mike Long held
the Yankees to three hits and
struck out 17. Litke was the losing
pitcher. Final score-----Dodgers
16, Yankees 3.
Cold and rainy weather plus the
Dodgers cooled the fighting Tigers
off. W. Grover looked real good
in pitching the 9 to 3 victory. In
this game which took place Wedn-
esday, the Tigers were hurt by
pitching depth. Jeff Soper looked
real good in this first outing.
A tight defensive game was
played on Thursday between the
Braves and Yankees with the
Braves coming out on the top of
a 9 to 6 score. Winning pitcher
was J. Conley and the loser was
M. Bush.
A little more experience with
some of these pitchers and hitters
and we should see some real good
baseball. Natural talent and the
coaching staff have done a real
good job.

Ladies League
Bowlers Needed
by Myra West
Hey, all you gals with time on
your hands—we have a ladies lea-
gue each Tuesday afternoon. We
bowl from 1:15 to approximately
3:30 p.m. Every dependent wife
is invited to come join in the fun.
Right now we need substitutes
who will later join the teams.
Even if you’ve never had a bowl-
ing ball in your hands, you’re
welcome to come out and give it
a try. We don’t expect miracles
of our subs or regular bowlers,
we mainly get together to bowl
and have fun.
Why not come and give it a
try? I’m sure you will enjoy
bowling once you begin. It’ll give
you a chance to be with old friends
and meet a lot of new friends.
If you’d like more information,
please give me a call—Myra West
(on base ext,) 7147.
