Strikes ’n Spares

This final week before our Christmas vacation found all
leagues and teams showing their best form. The American
League saw Supply-2 defeat the leaders, NSGA-1 for four
big points and the first place honor for the league.
NCS-1 also shared the spotlight with the Supply-2 team
after a three-point win over Rockville-1. The National Lea-
gue Public Works team turned in^
a fine performance against NCS-2
with a four-point victory while
NSGA-3, still rolling strong, is
pushing from the second place
position.
In the International League,
NSGA-2 maintained their lead.
However, anything can happen
with five other teams still in con-
tention.
Neal, A 289
High scores were the order of
the week with one of the best
week’s on record. Clint Neal of
AMD-1 in the American League
led the parade of scores with one
of the highest games and series
ever posted with a 289-677. Other
keglers splitting the maples for
the Artie Bowl “250” Honor Roll
were Case of Supply-1 in the
National League with a fine 268.
Butay and Whalen, two members
of the 57th FIS-3 team in the
International League recorded
scores of 255 each.
In the American League, Conkey
and Waldrop of Admin-1 tossed
a 200-533 and 203-561, and the
Supply team was out in force with
Torbeck rolling a 541, Borek toss-
ing a 528, Dorsey cracked a 222-
524 and Shukis came up with a
519. For NSGA-1, Taylor had a
545 and Guyton had a 528, Barg-
horn of Rockville-1 blasted a 215-
563 and Fred Boll of AMD-1 had

The playoff game between the
Baltimore Colts and the Green Bay
Packers to determine the winner
of the Western Division of the
National Football League will be
broadcast over Armed Forces
Radio at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec.
26. This will be the climax of a
thrilling season which saw these
two teams along with Chicago still
having a chance to win the crown
going into the final week. (The
game will aired, reception con-
ditions permitting)
The Channel “8” football
“Game of the Week” this week
features a top American Football
League contest. The San Diego
Chargers invade Rice Stadium in
Houston to meet with the Hous-
ton Oilers. This is a crucial game
for the Chargers. If they win
this one, they take the Western
Division title. On the other hand,
Houston’s hopes for a successful
season now rest with the possi-
bility of upsetting one of the pace-
setters and they are cast as the
spoilers.
Although no schedule has been
announced, Armed Forces Radio
will broadcast as many of' the
bowl games on New Year’s Day
as programing will allow. The
times will be announced in next
week’s White Falcon.

244-588 and teammate Turpin had
a 546, Neilson of the Medics came
on strong with a 220/214-621 and
Emmert of OMD also cracked the
magic circle with a 221-601.
Nat’s Case Hits 600
In the National League, Sup-
ply-l had a good night with Case
tossing a 268.-600, Babneau had a
527, Osewalt came up with 201-
528 and McCulley cracked a 527.
Fansler of Rockville-2 threw a
540, Peters of ComFairKef had
a 220-532 and Jones of the 57th
FIS-1 had a 526. The Public
Works-1 scorers were Ralph at
532, Martin at 523 and Hockett
at 214-571.
In the International League, the
57th FIS-3 team threw some
good scores with Butay at 214-
571.

a 206-515 and 541 respectively,
Zimmerman of IDF threw a 522,

VP-21 had Goens at 218-546 and
Reed at 200-534.
57th Maintains Lead;
IKF Shacks Operations
The top teams in the Intramural Basketball League took
it easy this past week after 'the head-bumping from the
previous week. There were no major changes in the stand-
ings and the 57th FIS still leads the league by one game over
AFI and the Marines and two games over Admin/Sec. VP-
21 strengthened its hold on fifth by downing Supply and
IKF pulled a big upset by edging^
Operations.
In the first game of Dec. 13,
NavCommSta just managed to get
by the High School, 42 to 37.
Terrell led the winners with 15
points by scoring honors were
taken by Rogers of the High
School who dropped in 25.
Black Knights Triumph
The 57th FIS raced to a half-
time 39 to 6 lead and then ran
away and hid from NavSecGru,
66 to 19. For the 57th, it was
Webster leading the way with 21
followed by Montgomery with 19
and Hoover with 14.
Public Works gave it all they
had but just fell short of beating
Admin/Sec, 59 to 57. Gowen .had
20 and Skally chipped in 12 to
lead Admin while Beck had 23
and Wolcott sank 22 to pace
Public Works.
Operations came back from a
two point halftime deficit to de-
feat OMD, 56 to 48. Roberts led
the Operations attack with 17 and
Sivert added 16 Banks put through
15. However, LaCrouts of OMD
took scoring honors with 27
points.
Marines Rip Medics
Despite 21 points by Szydlo and
16 by Hanson, Medical still fell
to the Marines, 67 to 48. Gleave
paced the Marines attack with 19
and Clingan had 18.
Alley Talk

The Toppers continue to hold^
first place in the Iceland Mixed
Couples League while moving
into second are the Lucky Strikes.
This week’s high honor for the
men goes to Norm Martin who
rolled a 225 game and a 604 series.
Norm also holds high average of
186 for the league. Paula Case
hit a 191 for high game for the
ladies and Betty Emmert tossed
a 514 series to take honors for
that catagory. The 514 increased

CommSta Edges Weaponmen
NavCommSta played a tight de-
fensive game as they downed Wea-
pons, 49 to 46. Loomer sank 20
to lead NavCommSta and Carlson
of Weapons had 15 points.
AFI kept rolling along as they
trounced Public Works, 79 to 48.
Floyd had 17 and Anspaugh had
14 to lead AFI. For Public Works,
Betty’s league-leading average to
159.
Zephers Hold First
The Zephers still hold a strong-
lead for first place in the Keflavik
Civilian League with 6 games over
the second place Westerns. Act-
ion was high in this league with
Dave Nadolski rolling a 211-619,
L.C. McNeil hit a 216-593. For
the ladies, Shirley Moore scored
with a 197-499. High averages are
held by Annette Babneau with a
152 and Dave Nadolski with his
186.
Rolling a beautiful series in the
Tuesday Women’s League was
Helen Carter with a 521, while
Donna Trupin scored the high
205. The team standings find the
Devils in first place and the Hope-
fuls jumping into second. High
average is held by Annette Bab-
neau with a 153.
Potts And Whitmer Roll Highs
This week, all leagues rolled
high games including the Pin
Droppers League. For the girls,
Lynn Potts rolled a 140 game and
a 246 series while the boys had
Linden Whitmer tossing a 155
game and Mike Hayes took high
series with a 264. A tie is held
between Vic Loher and Lynden
Whitmer for high average at 126.
Lynne Fortini holds high average
for the girls with a 104.

VP-21 outscored Supply 58 to
49 in the big game of the week.
Wingham swished through 15 for
VP-21 to lead the way and Pres-
ton and Hanish each had 14. Stan-
ford had 18 to lead Supply.
The 57th FIS took target prac-
tice as they bombed the High
School by the score of 100 to 49.
Webster dunked in 33, McCurdy
had 25 and Hoover came up with
16 to lead the Black Knights.
Rogers sank 20 to pace the school-
boys.
Marines Win Again
After being held to a 27-27 half-
time tie the Marines raced to a 81
to 64 victory over NavSecGru.
Gleave dropped in 23 and Sterl-
ing had 17 to top the Marines.
Richards tossed through 28 to lead
NavSecGru.
Admin/Sec blasted OMD, 62 to
41 in the first game of Dec. 16.
Skally dropped in 23 and Ringan
and Gowen each had 14 to top
Admin. LaCrouts threw in 23 for
OMD.
IKF pulled one of the biggest
upsets of the year as they edged
Operations, 62 to 60. Fiddi got
back on the track as he netted 29.
Hurst had 23 and Banks had 17
to lead Operations.
