Aunt Maizy’s
Recipe Column
Well the Christmas season is
upon us and as some of you read
this column it will be Christmas
day. For this week’s recipe, we
are fortunate to have had one sub-
mitted by Mrs. Pattie Kreischer
of the NCO Wives’ Club.
Pumpkin pie is a favorite for
the Christmas season. This recipe
makes a pie that is creamy-rich
and delicious:
1. Prepare and set aside:
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
2. Combine in deep bowl:
1 package (2 oz.) whipped top-
ping mix.
Zz cup, minus 1 tablespoon cold
milk
Zi teaspoon vanilla
Za cup confectioners’ sugar
3. Mix well, beat until peaks form,
about 2 minutes. Set aside.
CPO Wide A Club fleuA
By Susie Hamilton
The members were graciously entertained at a morning
coffee in November at Mrs. Weymouth’s home. Each mem-
ber was introducing to the ladies of the individual comman-
ding officers of the various commands on base. The friendly
flow of conversation was interrupted only by the consump-
tion of the fine pastries and coffee served. May I say that
we had a wonderful time.
November Social
Our social was held in the Cal-
cutta Room of the CPO Club. We
combined our social with an in-
formal Bless Coffee for Mrs.
Roberta Hausauer. While playing
several games we were treated to
the quick wit, cooking ability, and
fast thinking of the individual
members. Prize winners were Mrs.
Joy Yilek, Mrs. Jackie Johnson,
and Mrs. Flo Clement. The hostes-
ses for the evening were Mrs.
Mabel Jones and Mrs. Susie
Hamilton.
Children’s Christmas Party
The Christmas Party for CPO
Wives’ Club Members’ children is
planned for Thursday, Dec. 23,
from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the CPO
Club. Presents, games, refresh-
ments and best of all Santa Claus
will be in attendance. This is a
special affair for our children and
the fun is unlimited. Mrs. Joy
Yilek, Mrs. Ruth Lowe, Mrs.
Gloria Jacobs, and Mrs. Penny
Weir are Santa’s helpers responsi-
ble for this party.
December Business Meeting
Club in a special January event
for all CPO Club members.
Remember this date, Jan. 22,
and mark your calendars to show
that this is a night of special
entertainment at the CPO Club.
Plan now to join us at the club
for an evening of terrific enter-
tainment.
New Arrivals
Our club has a Welcome Com-
mittee headed by Mrs. Jean Her-
sey, whose job it is to write to
new arrivals and welcome them
to Iceland. It is close to impossible
to perform this job efficiently
without knowledge of new arriv-
als. So that we may welcome and
assist any wife of E-7 through E-9
personnel, we would like to ask
the reader’s assistance by calling
any member of the Wives’ Club
who resides on base. We thank you
for your cooperation.
Holidays
We would like to take this time
to wish all readers a safe and
happy Christmas and New Year’s
holidays. For the New Year ahead
a hope is extended for “Peace on
Earth and Good Will to all Men.”
4. Combine:
1 package (3(4 oz.) instant
vanilla pudding mix
% cup cold milk
1 cup canned pumpkin
Zi teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
5. Mix well, add:
1 cup whipped topping mixture.
G. Stir until well blended. Turn

ish with remaining whipped

Well, that’s the recipe and it
sure sounds yummy. Our thanks
go out to Mrs. Kreischer. Let me
take this opportunity to wish
you all a Merry Christmas and

Regular business meeting was
held on Dec. 14, in the the Cal-
cutta Room of the CPO Club. With
all the Christmas and New Years
planning, a note of happy festi-
vity was apparent throughout the
meeting. Chief William Jones,
President of the CPO Club Ad-
visory Board, gave a short talk
to the members. One of the items
discussed was a request for the
Wives’ Club to assist the Men’s
WEAPONS’ BEST WISHES—The work of four energetic men from
the Weapons Department resulted in this Christmas message on the
Weapons Dept. Building near the Terminal Building. Robert F. Simon-
sen, MNSN, did the designing and Simonsen, along with Paul Johnson,
A02, Kenneth Classen, AOAN, and John McCormick, A03, did the paint-
ing. Simonsen has had previous experience as a free lance cartoonist
and has had work bought by Playboy and McCall’s magazines.
The rest of the men have had no past Experience in this type of work.
The sign can be easily seen from the International Highway and is
lighted up by spotlights in the evening.

Girl Scouts Bring Cheer
On Visit To Kef Nursery
Thirty-two Girl Scouts from'®’
Troop Number 3 departed the ele-
mentary school Tuesday, Dec. 14,
at 2 p.m. bound for Dagheimili
Tjarnargata, Keflavik Day Nurs-
ery.
With happy hearts and Christ-
mas Carols ringing it was known
that a joyful time would be had
by all. With the true Christmas
Spiritrthey carried toys made by
the girls themselves and some col-
lected by the Cadets to be pre-
sented to between 60 and 70 five-
year-old Icelandic children.
The scouts were entertained
when the nursery children sang
for them and the girls responded
by singing some of their own
songs. Santa was there with
candy and balloons, compliments of
the Navy Exchange.
On the return trip home the
weather was damp but not the
spirit of 32 Girl Scouts. Leader
of the girls is Doris Loher, as-
sisted by Beverly Baker.
