by love, service, and sacrifice is the ideal of Jesus Christ, and
all his true followers in every age and clime.
All the would-be dictators, ruled by the ideal of selfishness,
have failed, but those who love, serve and sacrifice will be and
have been victorious. When Jesus hung on the Cross of Calvary,
no doubt some exclaimed: “What a failure! Dying on an ignomi-
nious Cross!” Did I pronounce the word “failure?” Have we not
frequently sung at our worship services:
“Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Doth his successive journeys run;
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.”
or
“All hail the power of Jesus’ Name!
Let angels prostrate fall:
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown him Lord of all.”
His blessed Name is now lovingly and reverently pronounced
by people speaking 1059 languages. 650,000,000 people are his
voluntary followers throughout the entire world. In the past and
in the present, He is the most successful person ever known, and
the perfect example and ideal for the lives of men. He expects
every man to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.
For what cause did you come into the world? What will you
render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward you? Every
person has some mission to fulfill, some divinely appointed task
to perform. Have you found your mission—the purpose of your
life?
Justice, love, and reverence should be outstanding in every
life. We soon realize that good clothing, houses, vehicles are not
all of life! We also realize that “He that findeth his life will lose
it, but he that loseth his life will find it.” Our highest and noblest
self is realized in love, service and sacrifice.

and the sand. It laughs, dances and sings. It is surpassingly beau-
