3. CAMP: This has been an eventful year for Sunrise. As
you will hear when the Camp Report is presented, much has been
going on. This summer it will carry on much the same as before.
We feel with the new setup we will be the gainers and if we
accept the challenge Sunrise can go on to bigger and even better
things in the future. It was the wish of the Executive, at the
March 17th meeting that a detailed account of the new camp pro-
posal be given to the Convention. This will be presented at the
evening meeting on Saturday. We hope this will clarify some of
the doubtful aspects of the camp of the future.
4. HANDICRAFTS: This year it is the hope of the Executive
that the practice of a Display of Handicrafts of former years can
be revived. In the past this was one of the most interesting of all
the events of the Convention. We look forward to seeing the
beautiful work done by our members. Should anyone have brought
along some item, will she please notify the lady in charge. Her
name will be announced.
5. NOTICE OF MOTION: At the last Convention, it was felt
that with the dissolution of the Icelandic Synod, and the consequent
severing of our affiliation with that body, it was expedient for us
to ally ourselves in some way with the new Church. To that end,
a Notice of Motion was formulated. A copy of this was mailed to
each member Aid of the L.W.L. along with the last News Letter.
It has been brought to our attention that this has caused some
consternation. However, the matter has been discussed with Dr.
Olson, president of the Central Canada Synod, and will be duly
presented for your consideration. We trust that any misgiving
about this item will be clarified.
6. TEMPERANCE: As you recall it was recommended at the
last Convention that a Temperance Sunday be observed in our
Congregations at an opportune time, this past winter. A reminder
was given at an Executive meeting. If this was, for one reason
or another, not done in your churches we ask that it be included
in the Report you take back with you from these proceedings and
that you strongly recommend to your Church council that this be
part of your next winter’s program.
