Mystery???
The versatile suggestion box
mystery has been cleared up at
Rockville*
The suggestion box was Intend-
ed to provide a means for person-
nel assigned to Rockville to offer
constructive thoughts.
The box was built and painted
a brilliant red, white and green.
Instead of collecting suggestions,
however, the box became a small
arm of the postal service.
After a time, one well founded
suggestion made it into the box.
It read, "I suggest you mail my
letter and put a sign on this
box."
Mission accomplished.
Letters to the
- EDITOR-
Treimportation
Dear Editor,
My main purpose in this letter
is not to inform the population
of the NATO base of the trans-
portation problem, but to stress
the Importance of, and possibly
create an operation to improve
it.
The transportation department
provides a bus that stops at
certain strategic points approxi-
mately every half-hour. Not once
have I been on the bus that it
was fully occupied or even close
to it. Why? Could it be some
irregularity of the schedule?
Inadequacy of stops or that the
individuals are often caught in a
situation where time is lacking

Caller: Can I keep beer in my room at my quarters?
C.A.L.: For naval personnel—Yes; for Air Force personnel — Yes,
if you are an NCO and living apart from the airmen.
Caller: What pay grade is eligible to draw Family Separation
Allowance? _________________________________
C.A.L.: Those personnel in
pay grade E-4 with four years of
service, or E—4 with a six-year
obligation, and above.
Caller: As an unsponsored E-5,
is my wife eligible for space
available seat on TIA to return
to the States on my PCS orders?
C.A.L.: No. OpNavInst 4630.-
12C of Nov. 6, 1970 refers. For
specifics, see paragraph 5.b.3(c)
of the instruction.
Caller: Why can't I use new
molds now available at the hobby
shop?
C.A.L.: New molds, after test-
ing by the hobby shop manager,
are made available for use. How-
ever, the hobby shop must serve
not only the main shop on base,
but shops at H-3, Rockville and
Grindavik. Often the new molds
you know are available are not

The White Falcon is pub-
lished bi-weekly on Wednesday
and Friday in accordance with
NAVEXOS P-35, revised July
1958, for free distribution
to personnel of the Naval
Station, Keflavik. It is
printed at the naval station
printing plant from appro-
priated and nen-appropriated

other locations.
Caller: The Icelandic police
went through my car with a fine
tooth comb, including purchases
from the commissary, recently
when my wife stopped to turn in
the take-off list. Can they do
this?
C.A.L.: Definitely. IPs are
clearly within their rights to
check and inspect all goods, pack-
ages, cars, etc. going through
the gate. In effect, when you
through the gate, you are unde^^^B
going a customs' check, much
you would or will when returning
to the States.
Caller: My children were re-
fused admittance to the USO show
recently at Andrews Theater on
the grounds that they were un-
accompanied and under 15 years of
age. By what authority is this
action permitted? If such an au-
thority exists, why set the age
limit at 15? Why not 12?
C.A.L.: The answer is found
in NavStaKeflnst 1601.1 series as
follows: "(7) Special and/or
stage performances — children
under 14 years of age must be in
the company of an authorized res-
ponsible adult, 17 years of age
or older, who will ensure that
they are seated where immediate
control can be maintained through-
out the performance.
\
The primary factor in the set-
ting of the 14-year-old rule was
thorough observation of the con-
duct of children 13 years of age
and below left unattended at USO
shows. •
Caller: Why Is the sales of-
fice at the Hobby Shop closed on
Monday night when the shop is
open?
C.A.L.: The sales office

bor agreement, Icelandic employ-
ees do not work on Mondays.
