for galley, home
The
Could you imagine eating break-
fast without toast or drinking
your morning coffee without pas-
try? Without the Naval Station
Bake Shop this would be the sit-
uation.
The bake shop runs 24-hours a
day just to keep the normal sup-
ply of bread and pastries avail-
able to all persons on the NATO
base. On a regular weekday the
bake shop produces 1,700 loaves
of bread and for the entire week
they produce 9,500 loaves.
Bread is supplied to the gal-
ley, commissary, Navy Exchange,
and the clubs by the bake shop.
The bake shop also provides the
galley and the O'Club with cakes
and pastries.
All official occasions such
advancement ceremonies, retiri
raents and reenlistments are pr<
vided with cakes by the bake shop
All official baking requests go
through the food service office.
Baking is also done for the wives
club's parties and other similar
functions at a minimal cost.
The most expensive piece of
equipment at the bake shop is the
Amflow Model 300 or the "bread
machine." This machine produces
450 pounds of roll dough per hour
and has the processing equipment
necessary to store, ferment and
mix the ingredients.
Seventeen people, headed by
CS1 Ralph O. Wilkinson, are as-
signed to the bake shop.
