Summer sports program gears
for start of play next month
The 1971 summer intramural sports program will get underway next
month, with three different sports on tap.
The basketball program will begin around May 24, with pre-season
tournament play to begin between May 19-23. All entries must be sub-
mitted to the House Gymnasium pri-
or to May 14, and the first meet-
ing of team representatives will
be May 20. This is for entry and
drawing for the pre-season tourn-
ament and will be at 11 a.m. Two
leagues are planned if sufficient
interest is shown.
Intramural Golf will begin
play about May 25. Play will be
by four-man teams with Kansas
City Style of play in effect. In-
dividuals who do not belong to
units fielding teams are urged to
submit names to the station ath-
letic director if they wish to
participate. There will be a
meeting in the House Gym at noon
on May 21 to consolidate entries.
Slowpitch and fastpitch soft-
ball is geared for starting May
24. There is also a pre-season
tournament planned in this sport
to play May 21-23. The first
meeting is set for noon on May 20
in the House Gym.
All athletic representatives
of units and departments are asked
to canvass their units for teams
and players for these events.
The name, rate and phone number
of team captains must be submit-
ted to the athletic director,
Ext. 5191, by phone or memoran-
dum. Personnel can play in both
the slowpitch and fastpitch soft-
ball programs.
