Navy Exchange-Commissary Store Advisory board set up in response to Z-gram • Have you wondered why many things don't get done at the Navy Exchange or Commissary Store the way you would like them to be done? Could it be that you simp- ly haven't bothered to let anyone know your feelings? Both the exchange and commis- sary have had suggestion boxes for some time. The exchange has even installed a suggestion re- corder for your convenience, Ext. 8186. The officers-in-charge of both facilities have repeatedly announced that their phones are open anytime to comments or crit- icisms. In response to Z-gram 33, the naval station has established a Navy Exchange - Commissary Store Advisory Board. The Chief of Naval Operations has outlined the need for action for the customer- to-management aspects of the Cus- tomer Relations Program, or "as- suring simple and direct communi- cation between all exchange and commissary patrons and the manage- ment of those activities." Under the chairmanship of Raymond J. LaCrolx of the Admin department, the new Advisory Board has been set up to provide this communica- tions link. The board membership is for a six-month period, and most units and commands have provided a rep- resentative. The naval station's Master Chief Petty Officer, AOCM Tom Jarrell, is the key represen- tative for station departments. Other units and commands which are not listed below may obligate someone to represent them. "Availability" is the key word for your representatives. When your representative can't attend meetings, he can pass along his unit's suggestions, gripes and comments to Master Chief Jarrell, who will present them at the meeting in the name of that par- ticular component. As with any advisory board, each member has one vote, with the chairman casting his ballot only in the case of a tie. The board votes on every item (sug- gestion, gripe) that has a poten- tial for adding service and sat- isfaction to the patron, no mat- ter how small or trivial the idea may seem. Here are the board members and their phone numbers. If your unit or department is not listed, it is not that we are slighting you. It is because the naval station conference room is just not large enough to hold a repre- sentative from each and every unit on base. You smaller units also may refer your suggestions and gripes to Master Chief Jar- rell for presentation to the new board. The board members are: These interested people are your contacts. Now, it is up to you to voice your opinions so they may be heard. The commissary and exchange do the best they can, but they could do better in satisfying your par- ticular desires if you Just let them know what you want. Lt.
