 NSGA wives tour unit facilities Earlier this month, some 26 ves of NSGA men toured the area where their husbands work. The tour started at the 56 Club, where the wives and their tour guide, Leading Chief Fred Benson, boarded a Navy bus for the trip to the facility. The wives visited the communi- cations relay station in Hangar 831, the personnel and supply offices and operations building at the Hafnir site and the oper- ations building at Rockville. Demonstrations of teletype equip- ment and emergency power genera- tors were given. The tour ended where it began, at the 56 Club with a luncheon. T. Mahan school. Reginna Duke, Walter Hocket- staller, I'ary Pilarsky and Steven King review several of the books and the filmstrip viewer that will be available for the summer pro- gram stressing the theme "Reading is Fun." Mahan opens doors, books Summer program to start The summer library program at A. T. Mahan Elementary School will start Monday and run for the next six weeks. The school library will be open from 8a.ni, to noon, Monday through Friday, and will feature daily special programs from 9 to 10. Children can check out library books from the school for one- week periods, and have full use of the school's audio-visual ma- terials. These include: listen- ing centers with cassette tape recordings of favorite stories, film strip viewers, and a fine collection of recorded stories. Programs will include some arts and crafts activities, with projects designed to prove that reading is fun. As an example of the program, here are the first week's activi- ties. Special programs for pri- mary students are on Monday and Wednesday. Monday's activities include stories and information on animals, with the theme "Into the Jungles," illustrated with film strips and books. Then the children take a "Zoo Trip" via film strips on Wednesday. For the intermediate grades, also an animal theme, on Tuesday there's "Ben and Me" and "Amos the Mouse." "Adventures with Ribsy" is on Thursday. Friday fare includes animal riddles and creative crafts for all ages. Carol Forester is the summer librarian and guide 2br the young- sters 1 adventures in reading. Bible School July 12 through 23 are the date6 for this simmer's Vacation Bible School for all children age 3 through high school. Pre - registrations were held yesterday, but those who missed can still register on the first day of the school. Vacation Bible School will be held in the A. T. Mahan Elemen- tary School.
