new man,
Charles Blue
Charles Blue has arrived at
Kefluvik as the new field director
for the American National Red
Cross. He replaces /.If red J.
O'Donnell who was transferred to
Griffiss air Force Base at Rome,
N.Y.
I-ir. Blue entered the Red Cross
after being discharged from the
Army in 1945.
His other overseas assignments
have included Germany and Ethio-
pia. He has also been stationed
at numerous bases in New York and
at /Andrews air Force Base outside
of Washington.
Mr. Blue attended St. John's
University in New York. He is
married to the former Dona Flamrrt
f Heidelberg, Germany. Mrs. Blue
currently residing in Germany,
as field director, Hr. Blue is
sponsible for all Red Cross ac-
tivities aboard the base. These
include the handling of emergency
leave, counseling, financial as-
sistance and the various volun-
teer projects around base.
The Red Cross office is open
from 8 to 12 a.ra. and from 1 to
6 p.m. weekdays, fie can be reach-
ed by calling 5143. He can also
be reached through the quarter-
deck at night, on weekends and on
holidays for emergency reasons.

NavSta’s Fourth of July festival
set for tomorrow, Sunday, Monday
There's big things in store tomorrow as the naval station goes all
out in its annual Fourth of July Independence Day festivities.
At the athletic field, across from the Youth Center, there will be
games, concession stands, and activities for all ages throughout the
day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ___
Elsewhere around the base,
there will be a red pin bowling
tournament at the Arctic Bowl.
Each contestant enters once, and
plays three games. There's one
ball per frame, you must hit the
red pin for your score to count,
this past week during the day at the Sand Hut the base
uts participated in the annual Girl Scouts' "Day Camp". The
n which they worked this year, was "Our World".

Youth Center has a slate of act-
ivities it is sponsoring for
youths and adults, separately and
together. The Athletic Division
also has quite a slate of activi-
ties here at the main base, and
two golf tournaments at Shangri-
La over the holiday weekend.
And, when you get hungry, the
Navy Exchange will have two con-
cession booths adjacent to the
area of main activities with bev-
erages and snacks on sale. Also,
the NCO Wives' Club will have a
booth with hot dogs, cold drinks
and bake goodies for sale. The
CPO Wives will have a pancake
breakfast a t the Youth Center from
7 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at 75<r for
adults and 50<t for children. Hie
Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Re-
serve Association will have a
concession stand with barbecue
sandwiches at the activities site.
Then, if you're just thirsty, the
Public Works Wives will have a
booth offering hot chocolate and
coffee.
Activities will be conducted
on July 3,if the weather is nice.
