Cub Scout Olympics
The first of the summertime award events in this
year's Cub Scout Olympics was held at the Viking
Vista area Saturday.
The theme, physical fitness, pitted Cub Scouts
in such events as sack races, relays, softball
throw, 50-yard dash, and the three-legged race in
which the fathers took part.
The winners of the events were: Sack Race,
eight-year-olds, Steve King first, Mike Chevez se-
cond; nine-year-olds, Glen Walters first,Dan Harris
second; ten-year-olds, Ron Hicks first, Joe Fleck
second.
The 50-yard dash winners were: Jimmy Meyer first,
Dell Worden second in the eight-year-old category;
Dan Harris first, Joel Norman second for the nine-
year-olds; Ron Hicks first, Andy Murray second, of
the ten-year-olds.
Softball Throw winners were: eight-year-olds,
Dell Worden first, Lou Stanfield second; nine-year-
olds, Joel Norman first, Leon Chavez second; ten-
year-olds, Joel Ortis first, Ron Hicks.
The Cub Scout and father winning the three-legged
race were Steve Gaines and his father Gary. Second
place went to Craig Bosworth and his father Paul.

Ken Crist of HQ AFI fired rounds of 68 and 71 for a 139, to beat
out 27 competitors and capture the Air Force Golf Tournament here
June 24.
Bill Showalter of 932nd ACW SQ finished second with a 142 in the
36-hole scratch series event, -------------------
while John Boles of 57th FIS Col. Budd H. Butcher, Command-
scored rounds of 73 and 76 for a er of AFI, presented the tro-

to tie for fourth place. This
match will be decided into a sud-
den death playoff.
In the handicap flight Dave
Trott of 932nd ACW SQ posted a
129 to capture the handicap cham-
pionship.
Runner-up with a 132 wa3 How-
ard Fitzpatrick of 932nd ACW SQ.
Taking third and fourth spots
were Ken Luke of 57th FIS and Dan
Atkinson with a 136 respectively.
Dan and Rocky Searfoss, both from
932nd ACW SQ,determined the final
fourth place winner.

Gary Green of 57th FIS was
crowned champion of the second
handicap flight with a total of
35. Jim Haley, also of 57th
S, finished with a total of
9, while 57th's William Nall
rounded out the second flight.
