The action took placein Saturday's little league all-star game playedfor Independence Day festivities.
Pistoleers hit bullseye in district
The Keflavik Pistol Team re-
turned to the First Naval Dis-
trict Pistol Tournament recently
to defend its 1970 champion-
ship.
The team scored 108 points
higher than last year, but net-
ted only a second place finish
in this year's competition. The
Keflavik Pistoleers finished only
ten points behind the first place
team, as four of the five were
selected as outstanding shooters.
The tournament, held in Davis-
ville, R. I., marked the first
time that five of the sev-
en team members had shot in com-
petition. In defending its cham-
pionship, the team scored 1025 of
a possible 1200 score. The two
members of the team who had shot
in comoetition, Don Burnham and
Fred Brown, also excelled indi-
vidually. Burnham won the indi-
vidual competition with a score
of 540 out of a possible 600.
Brown placed third with a 528
score.
The team members "shot" their
way through the Davisville com-
petition, with five of the men
qualifing to represent the First
Naval District in the Atlantic
Fleet Tournament at Patuxent Riv-
er, M. D. Four of those cum
were selected to attend the
Navy competition in San DieH
Calif. ^
Members of this year's pistol
team are: Fred Brown, Grindi-
vik; William Kobernik, NSGA; Karl
Bauman, CommSta; Charles Blalack,
CommSta; James Bennett, CommSta;
Ronald Harris, NSGA and Team
Captain Don Burnham.

Base softball team
Tryouts for the base softball
team will start tomorrow. Play-
ers will be selected under game
conditions, playing a double
header.
The chosen team will play in
the First Naval District competi-
tion.
The little league baseball field now has a new scoreboard, thank;
to the Midnight Sun-downers square dance club. The club built
donated the scoreboard to the little leaguers just prior to
all-star game during last Saturday's Independence Day festivities.'
