Caller: There is a dog which is bothering the children around my
quarters. I called security and they said that they no longer take
care of loose animals. Is this true?
• C.A.L.: It seems that the person you spoke to was in error.
Action Line has reported the dog
to security.
Caller: Is Public Works going
to do anything about the writing
which appears in the bus stops
around the base? Why don't they
paint the insides black so the
writing won't show?
• C.A.L.: Public Works re-
cently refurbished every bus stop
on the station. It's certainly
too bad that some people have to
resort to such childish actions.
If Public Works did paint the in-
side black, people would just
write in yellow, pink or white.
Caller: My car didn't pass
the recent auto inspection, but
I'm ready to have it inspected
now. Where do I go?
• C.A.L.: You will have to
take your car to the Icelandic
Police Station any Wednesday be-
tween 3 and 5 p.m.
Caller: The soda and candy
bar machines in our barracks are
always giving us trouble. Whom
can we contact to have them fixed?
• C.A.L.: There is a "trouble
number" located on the front of
each machine. If you have prob-
lems with a machine, just call
the number.
Caller: I would like to ob-
tain photos of some Navy ships,
how do I go about this?
• C.A.L.: Photos can be ob-
tained from two sources. Ship
photos taken before Jan. 1, 1958
can be obtained by sending a check
or money order to: Cashier, Room
404,National Archives and Records
Service,8th and Pennsylvania Ave.
NW, Washington D.C. 20408. Price
for these pictures is $2 for each
8x10 black and white glossy print.
For more recent pictures,write
to: Commanding Officer, Naval
Photographic Center, Naval Sta-
tical, Washington D.C. 20390. The
price is 90<r for an 8x10 glossy
black and white, and 40c each,
for the second and third prints
from the same negative. Pay to
the order of: Naval Photographic
Center.
Larger sizes and color pictures
are also available, including
price schedules. For further in-
formation, write to either of the
above addresses.
NEX adds rug cleaning
to service capabilities
After a long wait, the Navy
Exchange finally got their wish,
and received new equipment for
their rug-cleaning services.
The prices went up a little,
but not as much as expected. In
apartments numbered 950 and 951
for 309 square feet, the price is
$12.30.
A rug that measures 370 square
feet, such as is in certain a-
partments, the price is $14.80. A
rug measuring 9x12, or 108 square
feet, will be cleaned for $4.30.
For the living rooms and dining
areas, with rugs which are 10x16
and 8x15, or one measuring 280
square feet, the price is $11.20.
The cleaning service is start-
ing to try something new. For
all three level apartments, the
stairways, floor and walls, and
laundry room may be cleaned once
a week for $1.75 per door. This
price includes everything that is
needed to do a proper job, how-
ever there is a minimum of four
weeks that the service must be
tried, and it must be agreeable
to all patrons involved.
If the people in housing units
have been careful about keeping
their place somewhat clean, then
the prices will bend in their fa-
vor.
