CHAMPUS eases broken tooth costs
The cost of repairing teeth
broken or knocked out in an acci-
dent can be as painful as the in-
jury itself — particularly since
this kind of dental care is ex-
tremely expensive and not gener-
ally available to dependents and
retired members in the military.
CHAMPUS — the Civilian Health
and Medical Program of the Uni-
formed Services — can offer some
relief to eligible beneficiaries
in need of dental care required
because of an accident.
The surgical removal of the
pulp and the restoration of teeth}
including necessary orthodontic
work in the case of wounds, frac-
tures, lacerations and disloca-
tions is one of the types of den-
tal care authorized under CHAMPUS.
Routine dental care, including
the repair of cavities and teeth-
cleaning, is not authorized under
the program.
Other services that are auth-
orized, in addition to the care
related to an injury, include
BOOKLET, from Page 4
IDF Public Affairs Office. Com-
mands may pick up copies reserved
for their use upon presentation
of written authorization.
In notifying commands of the
availability of the booklets,
Cdr. A. N. Kline, IDF PAO, cau-
tioned that copies now being dis-
tributed are not intended as "sou-
venir" copies. "This will be the
only shipment of books received
this year", he stated, "so com-
mands are cautioned to use dis-
cretion in effecting their dis-
tribution.
