got their maiden win by a 22-20
margin over Commissary as Joe
Carey threw in a 15 - foot jumper
from the key with five seconds to
play.
Carey scored after the ball
had changed hands three times in
the last 43 seconds without a
shot being taken. Carey was also
high point man for the Cavaliers
with 10 while Alan Shepherd had
10 for the Black Knights.
The Cavaliers held a 15-9 lead
but were hard pressed to win in
the second half.

Holiday tourney to divide season
Four of the seven intramural league first-half championships
clinched at the end of last week, bat the undefeated ranks were
to two. First-half play concludes next Tuesday.
A holiday tournament will be played between the first and second
halves, Dec. 26-30. Twelve teams
will be formed by draw on Dec. 20
and compete in the double elimi-
nation tourney. Two players have
been selected to form the nucleus
of each squad and the remainder
will be picked from all leagues,
including the ladies.
The Teachers in B league and
Max's Mice in the ladies A league
retained their unblemished rec-
ords .
At 9-0, the Teachers held a
comfortable lead over the eleven
remaining teams in the league,
but had not wrapped up the first
half crown.
High School's David Devaney, a
25.5 scorer, had a big lead in
the point race over Larry Wilkin-
son at 17. Bill Belmaer (15.4)
and Drew Eason (15.1) also were
in the race.
The other unbeaten team was
Max's Mice, whose 7-0 mark gave
them the ladies' crown. Not far
behind at 6-2 were the Tutors.
Barbara Fredericks and Jean
Maxwell also maintained their
scoring dominance with 13.9 and
11.9 averages, respectively.
Despite losing its first game
of the season to VP-56, CommSta's
Big Orange clinched the A league
crown with an 8 - 1 record. NSGA,
at 5 - 4 was the only other squad
sporting a winning record.
Dave Devaney, Supply's one-man
scoring machine, had knocked them
in at a 23.3 clip to lead Jack
Beck's 17.5 average. Moving into
third spot at 15.2 was Big O's
Jerry "Lefty" Egbring.
Still up for grabs was the C
league championship where Admin,
Hospital and NSGA at 7-2 were on-
ly one game off ComFAirKef's 8-1
pace following Fleet Weather's

The bowl season begins tomorrow
as Iowa State's surprising Cy-
clones blow into the Sun Bowl to
face Louisiana State ' s Tigers.
The action begins at 5:45.
Pro football's regular season
concludes Sunday as the Detroit
Lions take their explosive of-
fense to San Francisco. The 49ers
need a win in the 9 p. m. game to
win their conference crown.

over the scoring lead from Dave
Hettel of Hospital, 11.9 to 11.7.
The Tabbies in ladies B league
won their first half over the Ti-
gers and Castaways, while Shaw's
Raiders clinched the Recreation
league with a 9-1 mark. Pruitt's
Terrors finished second at 8-2.
Denny Bourgeois retained his
Recreation scoring lead with a
19.2 average over Mac McGinnis's
17.8 and Bill Hailey's 16.7.
Orange Patsies (10-1) and Sup-
ply (9-2) had a game left to de-
cide the Open League crown.
The scoring lead was also at
stake where Brad Floto's 22.4 led
Vern Chewning (20.8), Billy Bean
(20.4), Jerry Egbring (19.8) and
Chip Meyer (18.2).

Barbara Fredericks was chosen
for her outstanding play in lead-
ing Max's Mice to an undefeated
first half. Barbara leads the
league in scoring with 93 points
and a 13.9 average. She is an
excellent ball handler and plays
equally well at both ends of the
court. She is the wife of
Fredericks who is also a pi
so basketball is a family ma
in this home.
