Zombies zero-in on first,
AL standings tighten
There was a shake-up in the first four positions in the National
Bowling League. Supply was upset by the CommSta keglers, 4 to 0, and
tumbled into second place. K.C. Helling's 526 and Pat McPherson's
518 led the way for the victors, while Lee Kasting tried to stem the
tide for Supply with a 531
scratch set.
The "Zombie Hunters" of the
57th FIS roared into first place
by taking four from Coast Guard/
Dental. Zeke Zaleski was high
man for the "Zoomies" with a 555.
Recreation moved into the third
spot by downing AFI, 3 to 1.
"Flyboy" Mike Bristow racked up
the high game for the evening, a
236, while putting together a 605
series.
In other National League ac-
tion, AMD dropped to fourth bow-
ing to Public Works, 3 to 1.
Fred Longley's evening high ser-
ies of 213/219/629 sparked the
Seabees' effort. And eighth-
place Rockville split their match
with cellar - dwelling Medical as
"Medic" Bob Byrd rolled a 233/573
scratch set.
There's a tight race going in
the ten-team American League, as
only ten games separate the first
and last place squads. At the
top of the heap, OMD and CommSta
are tied for first as CommSta
swept VP-24, 4 to 0, OMD, on the
other hand, dropped four to the
BOQ, with Reyniro Jimenez posting
the high game and series for the
evening, a 228/618, for the win-
ners.
Elsewhere in the American
loop, Comptroller took the long
end of their match with NavFac, 3
to 1; the 57th FIS bested AFI, 3
to 1, and Food Service battled
NSGA to a 2-2 tie.
The Marines stretched their
lead in the International League
to five games by taking a 3 to 1
decision from Det 360. Randy
Szweda led the assault for the

Leathernecks with a 211 / 562.
Meanwhile, ComFAir took over sec-
ond place from NSGA by sweeping
the Security Group, 4 to 0.
Also registering sweeps were
VP-24 and the 57th FIS. The
"Batmen" of 24 blanked NavFac and
the "Zoomies" shutout AirOps. In
the final International circuit
match-up, Dick Multer's sizzling
218/233/646 led IDF over CommSta,
3 to 1.
"Ho-hum" describes the action
in the Gulf Stream circuit. AFI
maintained their comfortable
four-and-a-half game league lead
by beating Weapons, 3 to 1. Joe
Loushine was the big gun for the
"Flyboys" with a 225/212/609 ser-
ies. The 57th FIS scrambled out
of last place into a seventh-
place tie with Medical by out-
lasting the "Docs," 3 to 1. Ad-
min set the Marines down, 3 to 1,
to hold onto the sixth spot. And
CommSta racked up the only clean
sweep of the night whitewashing
AMD/OMD, 4 to 0.
The North Atlantic League saw
AIMD inch its league lead up to
three games as the "fix-it" guys
threw a monkey wrench into "Snoo-
py Maintenance," 3 to 1. Admin
fell further back into the pack
as Jerry Fuller's evening high
547 led PAO/AFRTS past the "Er-
rors," 3 to 1.
AFI slipped into second by
bombimg the Navy Exchange, 4 to
0. Rockville clipped Security, 3
to 1. And Supply split their
contest with NSGA.
There were only three games on
tap in the Northern Lights
League. AirOps continued to have
