MEMBERS OF THE U.S. WOMEN'S OLYMPIC HANDBALL team band together to reveal their
numbers.
International handball match
The big game between the Icelandic
Women's Handball Team and the U.S.
Olympic Handball Team was postponed
until Sunday at 3 p.m. Admission
is $3 and all proceeds go to the U.S.
Olympic Team. The Icelandic team plays
well, so the game should provide a great
deal of action and skill, plus some real
rough contact. European handball is a
fiercely competitive sport. Anyone at-
tending the game is guaranteed a slam*
bang contest more exciting than roller
derby without the "ham" routine. Tick-
ets will be available at 2:30 p.m. Sun-
day .
Racquetball standings
The racquet ball "A" league finds a
three-team race among VP-5, IDF and the
Sandcrabs with no clear cut favorite.
The "B" league has IDF in front with
AIMD, NCS and Recreation in close pur-
suit. AFI is favored due to their
having competed in a higher league for
the first half.

NATO beats
Vikings, 83-81
John Scewzyck was the hero of the
hour as he rebounded his own shot with
one second to go and the score tied.
Scewzyck shot a jump shot, which touched
nothing but string, to win the game, 83
to 81. In the second half, the NATO
Base overcame a 39 to 34 halftime edge
by the Vikings. The score was tied 22
times before the final heroics.
Scoring double figures for the Uni-
versity of Iceland Team were: Hans
Gudin, 24; Jon Porleifur, 17; and Josef
Steinn, 13; while Scewzyck had 22, Julio
Nieves, 21; Mark Albers, 11; and Andy
Medina, 10, had double figures for the
NATO Base.
All star volleyball
A collection of all-star volleyball
players, led by Bob Siraister, defeated
the Vikingur Club from Reyjkavik in a
best of five series 3 to 1. Play was in
mid-season form—the spikes and sets
were especially brilliant. Many games
will be scheduled in the future, so any-
one interested in playing on a varsity
team, contact Bob Simister at 4418.
Wrestling Smoker
The first 1976 Wrestling Smoker will
be held tomorrow. Weigh-in time is 9
a.m. with wrestling starting at 1
p.m. The event will be one or two days,
depending on the number of entries.
Prizes will go to the first and
second place winners. Weights are: 123-
130, 137, 147, 157, 167, 177, 187, 197
and unlimited. Entries will be accepted
until 12:45 p.m. tomorrow.
Street signs
go international
During the past two years, widespread
changes in highway and street signs and
pavement markings will be seen through-
out the United States and will affect
every motorist and pedestrian.
The United States is moving toward an
international-type system of traffic
control devices which emphasize pictures
and symbolic signs rather than written
messages._____ Symbolic signs
are not new to any-
one here in Iceland
or to anyone who has
been stationed any-
where in Europe.
Symbols have several
advantages over
written word mes-
sages. They provide
almost instant com-
munication with the
driver since they
can be understood at
a glance without having to be read. And
with millions of European visitors ex-
pected for the na-
tion's Bicentennial,
the new signs will
make driving safer
for all.
Members of the
Armed 'Forces will be
able to adjust to
a new area's driving
rules because he is
already familiar
with the signs being
placed on the high-
ways .
The shape and the
color of traffic
signs indicate their meaning. There are
eight standard shapes. Octagon: used
exclusively for Stop signs. Horizontal
Rectangle: generally for guide signs.
Equilateral Triangle: Exclusively for
Yield signs. Pennant: Advance warning
of No Passing Zone. Diamond: ex-
clusively to warn of existing or pos-
sible hazards on roadways or adjacent
areas. Verticle Rectangle: generally
for regulatory signs. Pentagon: School
advance and school crossing signs.
Round: Railroad advance warning signs.
While many European nations are
adopting the United States' "Stop" sign,
the U.S. is turning to more inter-
national standards with red and white
"Yield" and "Do Not Enter" signs and
the use of the red and white circle
with a diagonal slash to indicate pro-
hibited movement.
