Here are reviews of two books on the
Best Seller's List:
The R Document by Irving Wallace is "the
story about a conspiracy to destroy The
Bill of Rights and an attempt by the F3I
to take over the country.
Against the background of rising vio-
lence and crime, Wallace pits two oppos-
ing forces: those who are working to
amend the Constitution so that the gov-
erment can impose a drastic rule of 'law
and order and those who recognize that
the proposed 35th Amendment may subvert
the police state. Opponents in this
life-and-death conflict are the bull-
like powerful Director of the FBI, Ver-
non T. Tynan, and the new Attorney Gen-
eral, Christopher Collins an ambitious,
honest man who supports the controver-
sial 35th Amendment despite his private
misgivings, but who discovers that there
is a secret plot of an evil and vicious
nature behind it." The author blends
inside facts with fiction and makes this
book very readable and enjoyable.
The Consumer's Guide to Banks by Gordon
L. Weil takes the reader behind those
marble pillars to reveal the differences
among the many services and gimmicks
that banks offer and shows why it is im-
portant to shop around for a loan and
how to do it. His book helps the reader
answer these questions: Who makes more
profit on your money in the bank, you or
the bank? What is the total cost to you
when arranging a loan or setting up a
checking account? What are the hidden
costs in Master Charge and BankAmeri-
card? or How does one lose money on
a savings account in one bank but not in
another? If you don't know the answers
to these questions, check this book out,
and you will never again walk into a
bank feeling confused and intimidated.
