Hollier, the Vikingnettes of A.T. Mahan
High School dumped the Lakers, 16 to 11
Monday night to take over sole possess-
ion of first place in women's basketball
league.
The Vikingnettes fell behind early in
the game from the long, accurate shoot-
ing of Janet Moore, She scored two three
pointers to lead the Lakers to an 8-6
first-half advantage.
The high schoolers fought back with
the shooting of Hafais Austin and Wanda
Felton to give the Vikingsnettes a 10-
9 lead shortly after intermission.
The tight zone defense of the Lakers
gave the winners trouble in scoring.
Unable to break the zone, Hallier found
the range from the outside to help put
the game away. This factor, along with
the hustle of Cherye Martin who stole
several balls away from the Lakers in
the last quarter of play, proved to be
the needed, little extra for the vic-
tory.
With the victory, the Vikingnettes
remained undefeated with a 4-0 record.
