From the Navy Exchange Officer...
The entire Navy Exchange staff
wishes you, our customers, a joyful
holiday season. We look forward to
serving you with renewed dedication
throughout the coming New Year.
Poinsettias--care and handling
Without sufficient natural light
(enough to read the fine print) a
poinsettia will lose its green
leaves, then its flower color. Pro-
vide full indirect sunlight (northern
exposure if days are bright) or place
directly beneath an obstructed sky-
light. Strong electric light helps,
especially if left on overnight.
Water: Water plant throughly when
soil surface is dry to the touch.
Some plants require daily watering;
others every day. Discard excess
water: Poinsettias do not like wet
feet.
Temperature: To prolong bright
color bracts, temperatures should not
exceed 72 degrees day or 60 degrees
night. (Above 75 degrees shortens
plant life.)
Humidity: Keep humidity at about
50 per cent all the time. Low humi-
dity shortens the life of a poinset-
tia and nothing is worse for the
plant than a hot, dry climate.
Other: When bracts age and become
muddy green, cut back plant to eight
inches to grow as a foliage plant in-
doors with direct light 6-8 hours
daily and 60-70 degrees at night.
The pot may also be placed outside
when temperatures are warm; avoid
temperature below 50 degrees at
night throughout the summer. For re-
flowering in the winter, avoid arti-
ficial light at night after Oct. 1.
The clothesline
As a confident dry-cleaner we can
remove a stubborn spot from your
clothing much better if we know what
caused it. We suggest pinning an
explanatory note to the garment be-
fore sending it to the cleaning plant
or telling the routeman or counter-
girl what caused the particular
stain.
It’s fake economy—and often dis-
astrous—to attempt spot and stain
removal at home. Spot removal is a
job for an expert and although you
may get the spot out, too often you
take out the color or ruin the fab-
ric. Sometimes you luckily remove
the spot but leave a ring that’s
worse.
Soiled or spotted garments should
be dry-cleaned before you put them
away. The longer a stain remains the
more firmly it sets.
Tell us how you feel
Your Navy Exchange Officer is in-
terested in your views concerning the
selection of merchandise and the qua-
lity of services provided by the ex-
change. Only through an expression
of your views can we properly gauge
your reaction to exchange operations.

the retail store and at various loca-
tions provide an opportunity for you
to assist the exchange in being more
responsive to your needs.
While the prices and types of mer-
chandise offered to you are subject
to regulations set forth by Congress,
your preferences do play an important
part in determining what will be
sold. Yet, managers must be aware of
your desire for an particular type of
merchandise.
Complaints and suggestions about
service and/or merchandise can also
be dropped into the suggestion boxes
located at various exchange activi-
ties around the base. It only takes
a few minutes of your time to tell us
how you feel and to let the exchange
.Management team know how it can bet-
ter serve you. All suggestions and
complaints will be reviewed and cor-
rective action will be taken wherever
possible.

tions. Thank you for your support.
