Plante wins Base Golf Championship
Under clear skies and strong winds, 30
golfers competed in the 1977 Base Golf
Championship Saturday and Sunday and
turned out a few low scores.
Dick Plante won the championship with
a 79 on the front nine and a 81 on the
back nine bringing his score to 177.
First flight honors were won by Paul
Griggs Sr. with a 180 followed by Walter
Hocketstaller Sr., with a 188.
Second flight honors were awarded to
Bob Dyster with a 192 and Tex Richard
took second place with a 194.
The final flight was won by Ron Elmor
with a 212 and Ron Brumley shot a*. 214 to
take second.
The hole-in-one winner was Tex
Richard with a shot eight feet four
inches from the hole.
The Calloway winner was Mike Barry Jr.
with 137 and the Blind Bogey winner was
Walter Hocketstaller Jr. with a 155.
Best hole winner was Woody Eastham
with a par on the seventh hole while
Mac McGinnis was the winner of the
worst hole by shooting an eight on green
five.
Golfers are needed for the match
against the Ness Golf Club Aug. 27 at
noon. Sign up with Dick Plante prior to
the match.
Rockville blast N SGA
in final baseball action
In a wind-blown, walk-filled and
error plagued game, Rockville scored 11
runs in the top of the seventh to win
the league championship, 23-12, from
NSGA.
Rockville finished with a, 29-3 rec-
ord while AFI and NSGA finished, 25-7,
each. AFI defeated NSGA, 14-8, to
finish second.
Mac McPherson hit three homers to be-
come the hero for Rockville while Paul
Pezz hit two and PJ Joyce one.
NSGA’s John Pozniak hit two, Paul
Flory one and Bart Keys also hit one.
Despite the final score the game was
close as the score was, 12-11, entering
the seventh.
Basketball , football slated

Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. against the Njard-
vik team.

For further information contact Lt.
Westlake at 4439.
Also touch football will kickoff Aug.

57B wins pennant
57th ’’B" won the pennant by two game
games over NAVFAC with AFI Sec.
finishing third.
The 57B was led by the solid pitching
and hitting for a high average for the
entire team. Their defense was also
outstanding and probably the main reason
for the championship.
NAV FAC lacked the defense with AFI
Sec. losing out by rotation at a vital
time.
VP-24 finished four games in front of
57 "A" as they have the best team on
station.
They have power, hitting, defense and
improved pitching that will probably be
favored to win the base championship.
57 "A" has been hit by rotation and
they are desperately trying to hold off
Air Ops for second place. They have
a two-game edge with four to play.
