Page 4 White Falcon September 16, 1977 Njardvik cagers stuff NATO 79-67 in return action With revenge in mind, the Njardvik basketball team returned to play the NATO base team again last week—and re- venge was all their own. Outshooting, outrunning and outbounding a struggling NATO team, the Njardvik cagers walked away with an 79-67 victory. While height was an important advan- tage for Njardvik, the NATO team just could not find the basket, hitting only 33 per cent from the field. Coach Tom Westlake reported after the game that he is still looking for addi- tional players to represent the NATO base. The NATO team will be traveling around Iceland for some games. If you are interested in representing the NATO base, contact Tom Westlake at 4439 or /;449. Grindy edges VP-24 14-12 on the gridiron In football, the game of the week was played Sept. 10, pitting Grindy against VP-24. Both teams presented good offense and defense with VP-24 edging out Grindy, 14-12. The longest play of the game was a 50-yard pass from Hurley to Peters for Grindy. In other action, ComFairKef dumped the Marines 14-0; NavSta beat NavFac 6-0 on a 35-yard pass from Cole to Robinson and NavSecGruAct won out over the 57th FIS 8-0. ^WINTER SPORTS Little League to elect new board officers There will be a general Little League meeting held on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Air Operations terminal. The most important reason for the meeting is to elect Little League Board officers for the 1977-78 season. Once elected, the new board will have suffi- cient time to plan for next year's base- ball season. Racquetball slated in Oct. In shape? Know your game? The 1977 intramural racquetball season will begin at the end of October. Now is the time to think about sharpening those skills and forming teams. Basketball slated in Oct. Intramural basketball will be start- ing about Oct. 30. Crosier takes tourney Rockville AFS held its 1977 Ping Pong Tournament at the NCO Club Saturday and Sunday. After losing his second match on Sat- urday, Clint Crosier marched across the losers bracket on Sunday to face Ruben Palacios who had come out on top in Sat- urdays competition. Crosier beat fellow crew member Dumas to set up the final match. Crosier then handed Palacios his first loss of the tournment and went on to defeat him once more 21-13 and 21-17. Cumas place third with fourth place honors going to Jim Plamer. Trophies were awarded to both Crosier and Palacios. Another reason for the meeting will be to discuss several planned playing rules for next year. These rules will affect all Major and Minor teams so it is important that all parents attend. The tentative selection of managers and coaches for next year will also be discussed.
