Coolcats bring breeze to court
Tied for first with House-cats
The Coolcats put on their best per-
formance of the season last week by win-
ning six of their eight games to place
them in a tie for first with the
Housecats in womens racquetball action.
Team spirit came from Carol Randall,
Beth Cornell, Linda Stanley and Margaret
Dearmond.
The Housecats have Fern Arendell on
vacation, but Jodie Windbigler kept the
spirit alive among her team members of,
Carol Lemmons, Sherry Thacker and Shelly
Hershfield as they managed to win four of
of their eight games played.
The Alleycats are scratching at the
top spot too by holding down second
place with percentage points.
Led by Melanie Maxon, Jackie Spratt
and Margaret Seymour they have won five
of eight matches played.
Singles
In single action the victors were
Cindy Heine 21-16; Margaret Seymour
21-10; Jackie Spratt 21-17; Sandra
Baskin 21-3; Beth Cornell 21-9; Christy
Henderlong 21-20; Carol Lemmons 21-3;
Jodie Windbigler 21-13 and Margaret
Dearmond 21-5.
Doubles
In double action it was Sherry
Thacker and Shelly Hershfield 21-19 and
Jackie Spratt and Melanie Maxon 21-2.
The outstanding players of the week
are Jodie Windbigler and Jackie Spratt.
The improved player of the week is
Christy Henderlong. Rookie of the
week is Margaret Dearmond.

40-28 in first game of season
With only a 10-minute notice that
they had a game to play, the NATO women
were handed their first defeat by the
Icelandic IR, 40-28, in last week's
hard court action.
This was the women's first game of
the season with outstanding scoring
coming from Cherie Autry, Micki Pardoe
and Linda Kokemuller.
Security pops
CFK 44-41
Security .slipped passed CFK in the
finals of the single elimination presea-
son tourney Saturday by a score of 44-41.
Security jumped off to a 10-0 lead
and were in the lead, although CFK
several times cut the deficit to four.
The score at halftime was 26-19.
Bill Schroer was high point man for
Security with 19-points and Kevin
Gallagher was high man for CFK with 14-
points .
Enroute to the championship, Security
defeated Grindy 44-33, NSGA 68-36, Aimd
54-35 and NCS I 57-49. On the other
hand CFK advanced to the finals by beat-
ing Det. 14 42-39, Rockville 51-48 "and
VP-16 32-27.
Outstanding player for the tourney was
Bill Schroer.
Three leagues
began Monday
The intramural basketball season
jumped off Monday with A,B and. C Leagues
participating.
The A League has Security, CFK, VP-16,
IKA (the Icelandic team), Det. 14, 57th
FIS and NCS rounding out their league.
The B League has Supply, NSGA, VP-16's
second team, Hospital, Public Works,
AIMD, Njardvik and Marines rounding out
their league.
The C League is composed of the Post
Office, NavFac, Grindy, Air Ops, High
After only four practice sessions the
NATO Ladies hit eight of 11 from the
charity line.
The team is scheduled to play
tomorrow and Sunday at 2 p.m. Any
woman interested in trying out for the
team may contact Teresa Ludt at ext.-
7551 for information on practice sess-
ions .
School and NCS III.
The ladies intramural league consists
of four teams that consist of the
Hotdogs, High School, Marauders and the
Tomcats.
Wrestling slated
The wrestling tourney is scheduled
for Dec. 2 and 3 with prizes going to
first and second in each weight class.
Weight classes will be 123-130 lbs.,
137 lbs., 147 lbs., 157 lbs., 167 lbs.',
177 lbs., 187 lbs., 197 lbs. and un-
limited weigh in will be Dec. 2 from
10 a.m. to noon in the gym.
