Navy Exchange news
by Darlene Johnson
Starting Feb. 15, while the supply
lasts, a beautiful gift is yours to
enjoy with any $6.50 purchase or more
of Estee' Lauder products. For more
information, see your Estee' Lauder
beauty advisor, Sue Dehne, at the Navy
Exchange Main Retail Store.
May Navy Lodge reservations
The Navy Lodge will start taking re-
servations for May on Feb. 13. Stop by
and see Ginger at the lodge between 8
a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Valentine's Day
Give your loved one a special gift on
this day, of love. Have you thought of a
bracelet, charm, locket or pen/desk set
which can be engraved with your dearest
one's name and the date to commemorate
the event? See your Navy Exchange Per-
sonalized Services Center for these or
other ideas for your valentine.
File your tax returns early
Income tax—it's one of those things
that's worth having finished and done
with (until next year rolls around).
The sooner you get a refund, the more
it will buy or earn. If you're going to
have to make a donation to the govern-
ment, an early start will give you more
time to prepare for it.
The Navy Exchange has most of the
items that can help reduce the hassle
of preparing tax returns while mini-
mizing the chances of costly errors.
Income tax guides, calculators, pencils,
pens and paper are available at typical-
ly low NEX prices.
NEX also has budget and receipt
folders; start organizing for next
year's returns.
Shopping privileges protected
For your protection, Commander Naval
Forces Iceland/Commanding Officer Naval
Station Keflavik Instruction 4060.4B
states that the Commanding Officer,
Naval Station Keflavik (when recommended
by an individual or sponsor's command-
ing officer) will withdraw Navy Exchange
and Commissary Store privileges from
anyone who has been found to have made
purchases or secured services for an
unauthorized person.
Appropriate disciplinary or admini-
strative action may also be taken.
Additionally, Navy Exchange and Com-
missary Store privileges may be with-
drawn from persons found guilty of
customs violations.
Fashion man
After a brief vacation, the dapper
expert on men's fashions is back.
He says that fashion this month is
on dress shirts and ties.
The vested suit (extremely popular
now) and the sport coat ensemble are
winners only if the shirt-tie combina-
tion matches.
According to the fashion man, the cut
of the collar as well as color, patterns
and textures of tie and shirt are impor-
tant considerations for achieving the
total, dressy look.
The Navy Exchange's selection of
dress shirts and ties should please
even Beau Brummel. NEX has an excellent
selection of white-on-whites plus
stripes and patterns in a variety of
colors and collar treatments. The tie
assortment is equally impressive.
Find out how economical it is to
achieve the total, dressed up look.
Visit the men's wear department and
see the fashion man display.
Washington's Birthday Sale
Shoppers will get another opportunity
Feb. 17 and 18 to experience added buying
power. The Washington's Birthday Sale
event will enable you to get more for
your precious dollars in just about
every Navy Exchange department.
Signs and posters throughout the
store, as well as other notices, tell
the complete story about this money
saving event.
Mark your calendar with a giant dol-
lar sign—a reminder of cash you can
expect to save at this affair.
Barber Shop waiting reduced
The long hours of waiting have been
finally shortened at the Navy Exchange
Barber Shop. Just recently, an in-
creased staff at the Barber Shop has
greatly reduced the waiting time pre-
viously experienced. NEX feels that the
problem is resolved and appreciates your
patience and consideration in the past.

TOURS &
TRAVEL
by Madeleine Grimsley
Ireland for Easter
There is a package tour with limited
seats available to lovely Dublin. This
five-day package leaves March 23 (Holy
Thursday) and returns March 27 (Easter
Monday). This tour includes airfare,
airport tax, transfers and a choice of
two hotels, including an Irish break-
fast. Call the Tour Office at 4200 for
more information.
As a reminder, the Tour Office still
offers weekly London tours, including
airfare and a choice of several hotels.
The tours leave and return every Satur-
day.
Make your reservations to St. Anton
or Kitzbuhel as early as possible be-
cause the request must be sent to New
York for confirmation.
Iceland tours
The Tour Office has package tours to
Akureyri, including airfare and hotel
accommodations for two, three or four
nights.
The snow is plentiful for skiing.
You may stay at the Hotel Kea or the
Ski Lodge. The hotel is about a 20
minute bus ride to the slopes; the lodge
is located at the foot of the slopes.
Take your choice—a centrally-located
hotel or ski lodge to your doorstep.
Planes leave daily.
The office also has airfare and
hotel packages at Husavik. Husavik is
a fishing village in northern Iceland.
There is a modern hotel located five
minutes for the slopes. Planes leave
every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Fri-
day and Sunday.
Why not get away to one of these de-
lightful towns in the north—even if
you are not a skier?
A change of scenery is just the tonic
for the winter doldrums.
The price is right. Call the Tour
Office at 4200 or 5111 for more informa-
tion about the above tours.
Foreign currency
Going to Europe on leave? Don't be
caught without any currency of the
countries you're going to visit. If
you call the American Express Bank at
least a week before needing your money,
the bank may get you any amount of
currency you need. But, if you wait
until the last minute, you may not
have the opportunity to buy pounds or
pesetas. Plan ahead—order your
money in advance.
The Tour Office has now received
rates for the Edinbourgh tour package,
leaving Feb. 17 and returning Feb. 20.
To make this tour possible, interested
persons must come in to sign up and
pay for the tour. Call the Tour Of-
fice for more information at 4200.
