Exchange news by Darlene Johnson When an employee of the Navy ex- change asks to see your I.D. card, that employee is protecting your interest by determining that you are an author - ized patron. However, the exchange can not protect your exchange privilege from abuse by you, the customer.... only you can do that. Buying an item at the exchange for a friend who is not entitled to use the exchange is an abuse of the exchange privilege. This action violates regulat- ions and puts your own continued use of the exchange in jeopardy. The loss of this privilege would be equivalent of a reduction in pay for service personnel. It is up to you to guard your ex- change privilege from abuses that can bring about its cancellation. It is also in your best interest to remind other authorized patrons of their obligation to protect what they have if you become aware that they are buying merchandise for unauthorized persons. REMEMBER. THE NAVY EXCHANGE IS YOUR PLACE TO SHOP. Special Days Next Month Lots of things are happening next month. The Navy Exchange will be hosting a Spring Sale, St. Patrick's Day is hailed on the 17th, the Jewish Day of Purim falls on March 23rd, Good Friday is on the 24th and Easter Sunday is celebrated on March 26th. The Navy Exchange has assembled a variety of appropriate merchandise for these occasions. In addition to greeting cards, religious jewelry and ornaments, we are also featuring egg coloring kits, Easter candies, toys and trinkets. Each week, Personalized Services, Bldg. T-19, receives an order of fresh- cut flowers and live plants from Reyklavik. They offer floral arrange- ments made up from the fresh-cut flowers if so desired; however, during special occasions, such as Valentines Day, Easter, etc. they sometimes run short. To avoid this problem, they re- quest that you place orders for floral arrangements at least seven days in advance. This enables them to order accordingly and guarantees you an arrangement for that "Special Day." The rubber stamp machine at the Navy Exchange Personalized Services, Bldg. T-19, has been repaired. Orders for rubber stamps are now being accepted. The Navy Exchange Service Station can special order parts for your auto- mobile. These parts are ordered from, Navy Exchange, in Norfolk and are usually sent Parcel Post. The average time involved is approx- imately 30 days, depending on the item desired. For more information, see the Service Station Manager, Bldg. T-19. Responding to the many complaints about the 8:30 appointment and cars not being ready until late afternoon. The Service Station books all appointments for 8:30. If this imposes on an early morning appointment to the Dr., Dentist, etc., arrangements can be make for the schedul- ing of later appointments by calling the Manager at Ext. 4470. An increase in staff at the Navy Ex- change Barber Shop has greatly reduced the waiting time previously experienced and now enables E-6 and above to make an appointment 24 hours in advance. To make your appointment contact the Barber Shop at Ext. 7932. Commanding Officer Capt. Jack T..
