Volume 34, Number 37 Keflavik, Iceland September 15, 1978 E-3A Sentry Aircraft arriving soon The first of two E-3A "Sentry Aircraft" from the 552nd Airborne Warning and Control Wing (AWACW) is scheduled to arrive at Keflavik Sept. 23. The second aircraft is due Sept. 27. It will mark the first time that an E-3A aircraft will have a con- tinuous deployment commitment out- side the continental United States. The Sentry will replace the EC-121 "Super Constellation" squad- ron, which has been deployed to Iceland in a similar role for sev- eral years. Detachment 2 552nd AWACW was ac- tivated in April to maintain and support the aircraft and crews dur- ing their stay in Iceland. "The men and women of Det. 2 are proud and eager to be the first Air Force unit to employ the Sentry in an operational role," remarked Lieutenant Colonel Edward A. Zompa, Det. 2 Commander. PTO to assemble The Keflavik Parent Teacher Or- ganization will have its first meeting, followed by an open house at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the A. T. Mahan High School. "We plan to discuss the goals, projects and budget for the year and to survey parents and teacher? for ideas and suggestions," ex- plains PTO president Dea Cole. The PTO carnival, the main source of funds for PTO projects, will be emphasized. Parents and teachers may also join the PTO at this meeting. Dues for one year are $1. The open house, which will con- tinue at both the upper and lower schools until 9 p.m., will give parents an opportunity to meet the teachers and view school facilities and materials being used. Parents may also learn how they can help teachers with class- room activities. The Boy and Girl Scouts will also have displays and sign up tables. SENIOR TROOP INSPECTOR Lieutenant Colonel P. J.
