Mahan Elementary stu- dents were fingerprinted by Seaman Lorraine Andrew from Naval Station Security recently. Vickie Godwin, Career Education Coordinator, emphasized that fingerprints were used to rein- force this theme that everyone is indeed an individual because no two people have the same finger- prints. AFI airmen honored Two Air Forces Iceland airmen were honored during a commander's call last week. TSgt Daniel S. Novack received the first oak leaf cluster to the Air Force Com- mendation medal, and TSgt James K. Johns was awarded a second oak leaf cluster. TSgt Johns is assigned to the AFI Supply Section while TSgt Novack is a member of the Opera- tions Control Center. SSgt Jeffery Martin and A1C Michael Piazza were also recognized on their selection as AFI Out- standing NCO and Airman of the Quarter for July through September 1978. 'Day of Atonement’ YOM KIPPUR, the Day of Atone- ment, is on the 10th day of the Jewish Tishuri—a day of reflection and prayer for Jews throughout the world. Yom Kippur starts at sundown Tuesday and ends at sundown Wednes- day. It is traditional to fast during this time, and, at the end of prayers, have a break the fast with others members of the con- gregation. It is then that Jewish tradi- tion indicates God makes His final entries into the Book of Life. Through an inward look, reaf- firmation of faith and prayer, an atonement for past sins is made, and Jews are favorably inscribed in the Book of Life. A. T. Mahan High School Student Council members are soliciting sponsors for its annual Walk-A-Thon. Students will approach base residents, asking for pledges, which will be forfeited if a stu- dent completes the planned 10-kilo- meter walk. The Walk-A-Thon will begin Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. and the walk will pro- ceed over a course laid out around the base. The purpose of the Walk- A-Thon is to raise funds for Stu- dent Council and Parent Teacher Or- ganization activities. 'Walk right in’
