CFC Campaign:
Keflavik, Iceland October 20, 1978
Past the halfway mark
Key persons redouble their ef-
forts for 100 percent solicitation
because the 1979 Combined Federal
Campaign Overseas Area has passed
the half-way mark. Despite pro-
mising early reports, there are
still many base personnel who have
not been reached or have not re-
sponded, according to Lieutenant
Colonel K. H. Ricks, campaign
'chairman.
To date, the highest individual
contribution totals $480. At this
point, overall participation mea-
sures only 30 percent. Thus far,
$11,462 has been raised in the
campaign. About $36,000 was col-
lected during last year’s drive.
The support of Department of
Defense personnel overseas, mili-
tary and civilian, is a vital
help to the 17 National Health
Agencies, American Red Cross and
13 International Service Agencies
in carrying out their specific
health, welfare, international
and youth missions.

Located next to the Windbreaker
Club, the new Operational Crew Fa-
cility opened Tuesday.
According to Lieutenant Comman-
der Alec T. Pringle, Resident Of-
ficer in Charge of Construction,
the $1,500,000 barracks will ac-
commodate 48 NATO crew members who
periodically visit Keflavik.
The first NATO crew is scheduled
to occupy the barracks next week.

Your CFC." Among the many ser-
vices provided through CFC
agencies are research in major
health problems and direct as-
sistance to patients, assistance
to military personnel and their
families at home and abroad,
individual assistance to the
world's hungry and destitute and
community involvement of youth.
Donations may be made through
the payroll allotment system,
with deductions beginning in
January 1979. Individual agen-
cies may be designated if de-
sired. Key persons have details.
Parent/Teacher
conferences to be held
Parent/teacher conferences will
be held Tuesday through Oct. 27 for
parents of children in grades kin-
dergarten through the sixth grade.
Students in grades four through
six will be bussed home at 11:30
a.m.* those in grades one through
three at 11:45.
Lunch will not be served in
the cafeteria.
Kindergarten students will at-
tend school as usual.
Report cards will be given to
parents at the conference.
Monday will be a professional
day for elementary school teach-
ers. Students in kindergarten
through the sixth grade will not
attend school then.
Also, a professional day for
high school teachers is scheduled
for Oct. 30. Students in grades
seven through 12 will not attend
school this day.
High school report cards will
be sent home with students Nov. 1.
