667th AC&W
holds successful
Turkey Day fete
Don't bite the hand that fedds
you; especially if it is the site
commander and his trusted officers
serving the meal. That's how it
was at the 667th Aircraft Control
and Warning Squadron in Hofn this
Thanksgiving Day.
"It's ideas like this that not
only help morale, but also aid the
enormous work load of feeding more
than 100 hungry men," said Technical
Sergeant Lee Brazleton, NCOIC of
Food Services.
Staff Sergeants Roy Vincent and
John Skinner, shift leaders, agreed
that this year's feast, consisting
of shrimp cocktail, roasted turkey,
baked ham, cornbread dressing, spec-
ial gravy, salad, pumpkin and mince-
meat pies and fruit cake, was pleas-
antly served by the officers, who
also doubled as waiters.
"We don't want any complaints
from the Pilgrims," warned Lieutenant
Colonel Charles W. Patterson, site
commander and head maitre de, to his
men.
The enlisted and civilian men of
the 667th AC&W Sq were served by
Lieutenants Bob Marsh, Emo Lockette,
Bill Branan, Greg Norman, Randy Tew
and Dave Kirby and Captain Don Weld-
on .
The Thanksgiving catering elite
dinner was served and marked as a
holiday worth remembering following
Chaplain Vern Schueller's blessing.
A good time was had by all, except
maybe the turkey, who on occasion,
was heard to say, "Ain't this a . .
Turkey?"
Jr. class presents play Dec. 7-8
The A. T. Mahan High School drama
department, in cooperation with the.
junior class, will present Agatha
Christie's "Ten Little Indians."
The plot of the murder mystery
is the typical Christie storv of the
guilty soul being punished for its
offenses. A quite charming homicidal
maniac is the impetus behind this ad-
venture, set on a lonelv island.
The characters are typical people who
could appear in the daily life of any
average citizen.
Vera Claythorne is the lovely
young secretary, played by Elizabeth
Slowey; and the dashing Phillip
Lombard is portrayed by Donn Havi-
land. The spoiled wealthy socialite
Terri Marston is Kelly Davis; William
Blore, the ruined detective, is por-
trayed by David Salt.
Emily Brent, an unforgiving reli-
gious fanatic, is played by Elise
Reeves, and Debbie Rose and Ken Holt
recreate the roles of the couple who
care for the island home. The part
of Dr. Armstrong, who cares for the
island inhabitants, is played by Sta-
cey Reeves. Gerald Hansen is Judge
Lawrence Wargrave, a calming influ-
ence on the house dwellers. General
MacKenzie, a catalyst of irritation
to all other characters, is played
by John Tonnioli. Marshall Day as
deliverv boy Fred Narracott completes
the cast.
The junior class is selling the
tickets to the all-school play to be
performed Dec. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.
in the high school multi-purpose
room. Prices for the tickets,
which are available from the jun-
ior class, cast members, or at the

Some school-aged dependents of
Navy men and women stationed over-
seas will soon be eligible for
free and reduced-price lunches if
they attend schools administered
by the Office of Dependents Edu-
cation.
This change is the result of a
new law, the Defense Dependents
Education Act of 1978, which auth-
orizes participation by overseas
dependents in the National School
Lunch Program.
Free round-trip transportation
from home to school and back for
seven-day dormitory students is an-
other provision of the new Act.
Seven-day dormitories are those pro-
vided when the active duty military
parent is stationed too far from
the school to allow weekend commut-
ing by the student.
In the past, parents had to pro-
vide transportation home for their
children during the Christmas and
spring recesses and to and from
school at the beginning and end
of the school year.
door, are $1.50 for adults and 75c

Students will be selling tick-
ets throughout the NATO base to-
morrow.
school services
Another provision of the law
directs all schools in the Defense
Dependents Education System to set
up an elected advisory committee to
advise the principal or superinten-
dent of the school on school opera-
tion, and to make recommendations
on curriculum and budget matters.
The new law calls for an annual
assessment of the quality of educa-
tion provided to children attending
defense dependents education schools
Results of this assessment will be
reported to Congress and employees
in the school system.
