^NCommSta NRK wraps up fifth
straight North Atlantic championship
CammSta NRK wrapped up their
fifth straight North Atlantic League
championship Monday night while only
splitting their match. NRK holds an
eight and a half game lead over sec-
ond place Club Management with two
weeks of bowling to go.
Greg Loos rolled a 527 and Vern
Matteson a 519 as the NRK squad
fought CFK to a draw. At the same
time Club Management dropped a 3-1
decision to Supply #3. Orlando Mar-
gate was high for Supply with a 519
and Paul Trecha added a 208.
Rounding out remaining play, The
Black Knights tripped AIMD for three
behind Bob Shaffer's 222 and 570,
Rob Judas' 200 and 531, Dud Hueber's
512 and Harris Hutto's 201 and 509.
Dick Wardman's 507 led IsComlce to a
4-0 victory over the Marines. Comp-
troller won three from Public Works
behind Dan Shea's 208 and 543, Ace
Abram's 230 and 502 and Jeff Board's
518. Nick Nicholson was high for
PWC with a 536 and Frosty Meyer add-
ed a 202. NavFac #3 downed Air Ops
tor three.
| In the American League, the 960th
WACSS tripped Navy Broadcasting for
three and their magic number is now
four. John Wright led AWACSS with a
208 and 553, Mike Luce followed with
a 549 and Joe Morowski added a 507.
Food Service got back on the win-
ning track and moved back into sec-
ond place. They shutout the 57th
FIS behind Dan Lefler's 543, Jack
Roberts' 538 and Andy Morato's 202.
Jim Austin was high for the 57th
with a 213 and 507.
In other play, Don Thomas rolled
a 528 to lead IDF to a 3-1 decision
over AFI. Jim Kearney was high for
AFI with a 532, Bruce Michaelson had
a 523 and Ray Peterson rolled a 210
game. Tony Cuerpo's 520 paced the
Commissary to a 4-0 win over VP-23,
NavFac and NavCommSta and AIMD and
Comptroller split their matches.
Phil Blauvelt had a 553 and Steve
Brown a 525 for NavFac.
In the National League, first
place Medical shutout the CFK Chiefs
behind Mike Perkowski's 205 game and
554 set and Dan Bushong's 504. Comm-
Sta Admin tripped Supply #2 for
three; the Navy Exchange won three
from Recreation despite a 578 per-
formance by Bert Quintans, which in-
cluded a 224 game. The Good Guys
from the 57th FIS won three from the
Supply Chiefs. Bob Dixon had a 512
and Rick Browning a 501 for the Good
Guys and Lou Dixon a 503 for the
Chiefs. Jim Dutton's 505 was enough
for AFI to take three from Dental
and the IDF Chiefs split with Com-
FairKef. Jerry Hansen had a 544 and
Perry Boren a 505 for IDF while Donn
Sheldon had a 201 for ComFair.
In the International League,
Specomm has run on hard times. For
the second week in a row they have
been on the losing side of things.
The Marines did the honors with Gary
Basil rolling 502 for the Marines.
George Letke had a 201 game for the
losers. Second place Det. 14 took
advantage of the situation by win-
ning three from Navy Weather with
Ron Hancock's 503 pacing the Jolly
Greens. Public Works downed NavFac
for three; AFI did the same to the
NSGA Mat Rats. Art Kane paced AFI
with a 215 and 532, Charlie Price
was next with a 531 and Chuck Parker
came in with a 519. Mark Sobczak
was high for the Mat Rats with a 201
and 531. Admin downed Grindavik for
four behind Tony Croce's 202 and 546
and Jay Freeman's 511 and the 96Cth
AWACSS won three from NSGA's Hot
Rocks. Bill Flynn had a 538 and Tim
Auerbach a 528 for AWACSS and Scott
Metzger had a 500 even for the Hot
Rocks.

Tom Andrews and Sherrie Shaffer
have won the latest no tap bowling
tournament. It was held last week-
end and sponsored by the Women's
Bowling Association.
Andrews finished the event with a
745 total while Shaffer won the wom-
en's division with a 649.
Linda Patrizi was a close second
on the women's side with a 647 and
Willa Dugan took third place honors
with a 642.
Rounding out the remaining win-
ners in the men's division, Danny
Bushong was number two with a 729,
Paul Pietruzewski was third at 720,
Walt Myros fourth with a 718 and Ce-
cil Presley was fifth with a 707.
Sixth place went to Mark Blagen
with a 693, Phil Blauvelt had a 691,
Dan Shea a 686 and Mike Luce made
the money with a 680.
No tap bowling is like regular
bowling except that knocking down
nine pins on the first ball counts
as-a strike.

Tomorrow is the day that entries
will begin being accepted for the
10th annual Keflavik Men's Bowling
Association Championship Tournament.1
The tourney is scheduled for the
weekends of March 29-30 and April 5-
6.
Team, doubles and singles events
will be held. It is a handicap e-
vent and will be figured at 66 2/3%
of 200.
A representative from the KMBA
will be available from 1 to 3 p.m.
on weekends and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Entries will close
Sunday, March 23.
