Page 2 The White Falrnn June 6, 1980 Student scholarships were awarded Over 40 percent of the 1980 A. T. Mahan High School graduating class was awarded scholarships by the com- munity which now sends them on to further education. Continuing a long standing tra- dition in Keflavik, local organiza- tions presented awards to deserving seniors to help defray post high school educational costs. Presenting awards May 25 at the Andrews Theatre were representatives from: National Honor Society, Kef- lavik Sports Officials, Windbreaker Wives, Keflavik Chief Petty Officers Association, Ice ana Fire Theatre, PTO, Recreation Dept./Youth Center, Naval Facility Women's Club, Fleet Reserve Home, Midnight Sundowners, 960th AWACSS Women's Club, AIMD, Afro American Unity Club, and Kefla- vik Bowling Association. Those receiving tuition assis- tance were: Deeann Wardman, Todd Porter, Robert Vance, Mike Scanlon, Chandra Parker, Elise Reeves, Gerald Hansen, Sharon Shoelkopf, Dayle Thomas and Cindy Keller. Pet- ty Officer Raymond Spicuzza works with the Personnel Support Detach- ment, Naval Station, and Petty Of- ficer Jacquelyn Spicuzza works with the Naval Station Hospital. Pastrano reenlists RMl Ernesto Pastrano recently re- enlisted for four years under the Guard III program for a guaranteed assignment to Naples, Italy. He is attached to the Naval Com- munication Station Keflavik, Iceland and works in the Technical Control Division. (Photo by PHAN Bugner) Nine Black Knights received awards Nine Black Knights of the 57th FIS received awards for their out» standing contributions to the squadron's maintenance section in ceremonies held recently at the squadron headquarters. Lt. Col. John H. Carpenter, Squadron Commander, praised the nine 'Phantom Fixers" for their efforts and dedication to duty and then pre- sented each a plaque from the squad- ron's flyers. Staff Sgt. Hector Rodriguez was named the Outstanding Seven Level Maintenance Person for March, while A1C Mary A. Gengler was named the Outstanding Five Level Maintenance Person for March. Staff Sgt. Mary A. Murray was named the DCM Specialist, and Sgt. Terry L. Person claimed the AGB Staff Specialist award for April. The Outstanding Primary Crew Chief for April was Staff Sgt. James P. Collins, and the Outstanding Weapons Load Crew for April was com- posed of Staff Sgt. James E. Cun- diff, SrA. Carl A. Leimback and AMN Timothy Bierly/ AF Academy needs you The Air Force Academy has an im- mediate requirement for highly moti- vated career officers and NCOs to serve on the Airmanship Division Staff. Applicants, should be in the grades of Capt., Master Sgt., Tech- nical Sgt., or Staff Sgt. and have exceptional military performance records. Staff members work with cadets on a daily basis, managing, instructing soaring, parachuting or light aircraft flying. Applicants for the soaring branch should be rated Air Force Pilots and possess an FAA commercial glider rating or better. Officers and NCOs applying for Parachute Instructor duty should be experienced in free fall parachuting. Also, a military jump rating is desired but not mand- atory. No particular AFSC is re- quired. Applicants with general aviation experience would work with the Cadet Aviation Club and should have at least an FAA commercial pi- lot rating.
