CommSfa NRK, Air Ops #1 tied for
first in North Atlantic League
CommSta NRK and Air Ops #1 again
are deadlocked for the lead in tne
North Atlantic League of intramural
bowling.
Monday night NRK shutout Medical
It2 behind Russ Beard's 617 series
while Air Ops went 3-1 against AIMD
#2. The leaders are six games ahead
of third place CFK. Beard's series
included games of 204, 211 and 202.
Greg Loos followed with a 216 and
524 and Dan Smith had a 207 and 507,
Vern Matteson earned himself a trip-
licate patch by rolling three 166
games. Dan Shea led Ops in their
win with a 213 and 504.
In other action, the Black Knights
blanked Air Ops #2, Club Management
won three from the 57th FIS #4 team,
CFK downed the 960th AWACSS It3 squad
for three and PSD and Weapons split
their match. Patt Ponder led Weps
with a 202 and 557 and Tom Jablonski
was high for PSD with a 203 and 513.
Second place AIMD took three from
league-leading AFI #2 in the Ameri-
can League to tighten the race up a
bit. AFI went into the evening six
games up and that margin was cut in
half.
Roger Bognot led AIMD with a 521
and Bob Morgan added a 507. Bruce
Michaelson was high for AFI with a
212 and 575 and Ken Peer added a
513.
In other American League action,
Food Services won four from NavFac,
Cecil Presley had a 509 in NavComm-
Sta's 4-0 win over the Commissary,
the 57th FIS tripped Comptroller for
three even though Ron Terwilliger
had a 203 and 515 for the losers,
Skip Groce had a 517 for Navy Broad-
casting in their split with IDF and
the 960th AWACSS won three from
VP-46. Mike Luce paced the 960th
with a 215 and 596. Ed Jones was
next with a 556 including games of
210 and 204, Bill Jasper had a 202
and 517 and Phil Charron a 501.
Specomm has taken over first
place in the International League.
They shutout NSGA It 1 behind Gene
Adams' 514. Tom Andrews had a 502
for NSGA.
One game back is Admin and AFI,
Admin split their match with NavFac
it 1 while AFI won a 3-1 decision from
NavFac it3. George McHugh had a 513
and Art Kane a 218 and 508 for AFI.
In remaining action, Public Works
had an easy time of it with the Ma-
rines, winning by forfeit. Orvis
Dodge rolled a 204 and 500 for PWC.
The NATO Base Women's Volleyball Team is just one of many teams to be
honored at the awards assembly on June 14 at the Base Gym.
Grindavik won three from Det. 14,
despite a 515 set by the Jolly
Green's Mike Burden. NSGA it2 won
three from the 960th AWACSS in the
final match.
The Good Guys from the 57th FIS
took advantage of Medical's misfor-
tune and moved into first place in
the National League. Jim Coleman
rolled a 565 and Buster Shaw a 526
to lead the 57th to a 4-0 win over
IsComlce while Medical was dropping
a 4-0 decision to CommSta's NRK It2
team. Jerry Hansen had a 503 for
IsComlce.
In other action. Ron Jurgensen
rolled a 514 as the Navy Exchange
downed AFI for three, Supply it2 put
their handicap to use in tripping
