McHugh & Walsh take honors
Ii The 932nd. Aircraft Control and
laming Squadron continues to take
top honors in the competition for
Air Forces Iceland outstanding mili-
tary member of the quarter. During
the past four quarters, they have
had three winners in the Airman
category.
The most recent winners for Air
Forces Iceland in the period of A-
pril 1 to June 30, 1980 are: Staff
Sgt. Deborah A. Walsh, NCO of the
Quarter and Senior Airman Mary T.
McHugh, Airman of the Quarter.
Staff Sgt. Walsh was selected for
her outstanding professionalism and
superior qualifications. During her
tour in Iceland she has become tri-
ple qualified within the Operations
Section at Rockville. She is quali-
fied as an Air ■ Surveillance Super-
visor, Control Technician and Wea-
pons Controller Technician.
It is a full time job maintaining
proficiency in any one position, but
because of her initiative and dedi-
cation, she performs all three in an
excellent manner. Staff Sgt. Walsh
also finds time for off-duty educa-
tion.
Senior Airman McHugh was selected
for her superb performance, both as
an Air Surveillance Operator and Air
Surveillance Technician. She has
been training newly assigned per-
sonnel with outstanding results. As
a member of the Squadron Enlisted
Advisory Council, she has helped
raise the morale of all personnel.
She has helped organize squadron
functions, which has ensured their
success.
Staff Sgt. Walsh departs in Sep-
tember for Hancock Field, New York
and Senior Airman McHugh also de-
parts in September for Fort Lee, Va.
Congratulations!
Congratulations are extended to
Mrs. Lois Scarborough who is the re-
cipient of the Navy Exchange Superi-
or Accomplishment Recognition Award
for the second quarter of fiscal
year 1980 for her outstanding work
performance.
Lois arrived in Keflavik Novem-
ber 8, 1978 and began working for
the Navy Exchange system in late
November at the Youth Center Snack
Bar. She then transferred to the
Merchandising Office in February
1979. Lois has been a dedicated and
conscientious employee, and will be
greatly missed when she leaves Ice-
land July 31 of this year.
Lois' husband is Master Sgt.
James M. Scarborough who is station-
ed with Air Forces Iceland. Master
Sgt. Scarborough plans to retire up-
on his departure from Iceland, and
they will be living near Robins Air
Force Base, Georgia.
NSGA awards 12
at recent
ceremony
Twelve Naval Security Group Acti-
vity personnel were recently com-
mended or advanced by the Command-
ing Officer, Lt. Cmdr. J. P. Col-
lins.
Highlighting the ceremony, CTM2
’erry Akers and CTM2 Kim Leary were
awarded the Navy Achievement Medal
for their superlative performance of
duty in early 1980, when they com-
bined their exceptional electronic
maintenance talents in developing
and incorporating an emergency modi-
fication to a sophisticated electro-
nics systems, thereby precluding
total operational outage.
Other awards persented included
a COMFAIRKEF Letter of Commendation
to CTC2 Andrea Goodwin for her sup-
port of the COMFAIRKEF Operations
Center in April. Four personnel,
CTA2 Bob Peterson, CT02 Penny Sanvi-
do, CTM2 Linda Burroughs, and CTT3
Andrea Collins, received letters for
their outstanding performance as key
persons in the 1980 Navy Relief
Drive.
EN1 Stan Condon was awarded a
Letter of Commendation in recogni-
tion of his three years of dedicated
service to NSGA and the NATO commu-
nity. Rounding out the ceremony,
CTTSN Lisa Orman and CT0SN John Hin-
ton were advanced to their present
rank; CTR1 Ken Zdonowski received
an award for his role on the NATO
Base championship volleyball team;
and CTASN Terry Czerwinski was re-
cognized for her continued achieve-
ment in the Navy aerobics program.
PC3 FRANK J. PATRIZI—recently reenlisted for three years at a ceremony
held in the Command Conference Room by the Executive Officer, Cmdr. A. R.
Marrical, for benefits of rate.
