After frenzied deliberation the
judges finally announced the win-
ners. Second runner up: Mz. Cal-
culated; 1st runner up: Mz. Con-
strued, and the new Mz. USO 1980:
Mz. Conceived, the lovely Tony Cook.
The New Beauty Person was presented
with the foil crown, royal cape and
a redolent bouquet of nixed scal-
lions, celery, red cabbage leaves,
dried corn husks and a johnny mop,
draped with plastic ivy, by the Old
Beauty Person.
Unfortunately Mz. USO, after all
that fuss, will be unable to reign
or to appear on the USO float for
the July 4th parade. It was just
learned that Tony must report im-
mediately to Kirtland AFB, New Mex-
ico; so Mz. Construed, Andre Barnes,
will reign and float as Mz. USO 1980
until next year's pageant.
