The White Falcon Page 5 At Navy Exchange For TV, stereo repair see Dave or Mark • a small, overcrowded room at ivy Exchange, Dave Miller and Mark Lilley are providing an impor- tant service to personnel of the NATO base. They are the men who fix your broken televisions, stereos and most other electronic gear. "Other than the Base Hobby Center we are the only facility on base where electronic repairs can be made," Mark Lilley said. "At the present time we are repairing about 15 televisions a week and lots of other electronic equipment." Located in the Personalized Ser- vices section of the Exchange, the shop charges $12 per hour, which is considerably less than the $20 or more that shops charge in the States. Even this expense can be avoided, however. According to Lilley, most equipment breakdown is due to owners not reading their instruction book- lets and using the equipment without fully understanding how it works. "People just don't take the time to learn about their gear before using it, and it can become quite expensive having the equipment re- paired," he said. "One individual burned out the same amplifier three times because he fiddled with it and used the wrong fuses each time." The repairman suggested a few helpful hints for owners to follow in the upkeep of their equipment. "Never try to fix gear if you don't know what ^tf^kare doing—more times than not you will make it worse than when you Don't put things on top of televisions and stereos, either. Some ^[e will put plants on their televisions and if you spill water inside, TV could be ruined. Always check to insure the voltage is the same as your house outlets, and most important of all is to fully understand your equipment before using it." Hopefully you will never require service on your television or stereo, but if the need for repairing does arise, Dave Miller and Mark Lilley are there to insure that your equipment is fixed as quickly as possible. If problems do arise, the number to call is 7963. Mark Lilley (above) takes time out of his busy schedule to give an esti- mate to a customer. Dave Miller makes repairs to a stereo receiver.
