FALCON
CFC campaign begins Sept. 22
Air Force and Navy personnel will
join others in support of the 1981
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
The Nato Base campaign will begin
Sept. 22 and will continue through
Oct. 31.
The 1980 NATO Base campaign was
considered successful as the Kefla-
vik commands collected over $43,500
In campaign contributions, bettering
the previous year's mark by over
$5,000.
CFC contributions provides fun-
ding to volunteer, non-profit organ-
izations on the local, national and
international level. Funds go to
groups such as the Boy Scouts and
Girl Scouts of America; the March of
Dimes, Save the Children, Project
Hope, the American Red Cross, Mus-
cular Dystrophy, the National Kidney
Foundation, the American Heart As-
sociation and many more.
CFC funds also aid the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation in conducting
research, care and educational pro-
grams for children who have lung-
damaging diseases, such as cystic
fibrosis which is inherited and in-
curable.
In 1964, the Combined Federal
Campaign was an experimental program
covering six city areas—when re-
sults showed a substantial increase
in funds raised, the program was
expanded. Last year, the campaign
covered almost 55C communities and
raised over $82 million dollars.
Contributors :c> designate the
organization to which their contri-
butions go. Undesignated funds are
given to non-profit groups to con-
duct medical reseirch and provide
public health education and ser-
vices. Some Of the money will go to
international agencies to provide
education and tools for development
programs and emergency survival
needs.
Two methods are available for
contributing to the campaign; pay-
roll pledges or cash gifts. Under
the payroll pledge plan, givers
specify the amount withheld each
month from their pay. The cash plan
is a direct contribution paid by
cash or check.
The NATO Base CFC coordinators
this year are Major Donald Hausam,
IceDeFor; 1st Lt. Joyce Allen, AFI;
Lt. Maynard Robinson, ComFairKef;
and Lt. Robert Debries and Lt. Wil-
liam Deueraux for Naval Station.
Local commands will announce
names of CFC representatives prior
to Sept. 8. Personnel wishing to
make a pledge should contact their
representatives.
