Lutheran service tomorrow
The NATO Base Lutheran com-
munity will gather for a service
of Holy Communion at 5:15 p.m.,
Saturday at the Base Chapel.
Chaplain Thomas Benedum will con-
duct the service and may be

formation regarding the service or
the Lutheran confirmation class
which is offered for children in
the seventh grade and up.
Sunday School anniversary
The NATO Base Chapel community
will celebrate the 200th anniver-
sary of the Sunday School Movement
this Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Base

NCS receives top award
Rear Admiral Richard A. Martini, Commander Iceland Defense Force, pre-
sented the Defense Communication Systems Outstanding Station of the Year
award for 1979 to the Naval Conmunications Station during a special awards
ceremony held recently.
Significant events of 1979 lead-
ing to CommSta'8 selection as out-
standing station included a 99.91%
station operating reliability; in-
stallation of uninterrupted power
source; the reporting efficiency of
the satellite terminal; and the im-
plementation of 48 telecommunication
service orders.
CommSta's Sailor/Petty Officer of
the Quarter, RMSA Normon Douglas and
ET1 Dillard Adams, were honored
later in the ceremony by Captain
Bennett D. Katz, Commanding Officer
of the Communications Station.
RM2 Kenneth Jones received a let-
ter of Commendation from his last
command, the Naval Amphibious Base,
Coronado. Good Conduct awards were presented to RMC William Shelley, RM1
Ronald Haigler, RM2 Mark Harding and RM3 Angelia Renfroe.
57th FIS personnel honored
Fifty-six members of the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron were honored
recently by Lt.Col. Charles R. Mordan, 57th commander, during ceremonies
held at the 57th FIS headquarters.
Capt. Robert K. Lowery and SMSgt. Steve A. Auer were recognized for
their achievements and were presented the Air Force Meritorious Medal.
Air Force Commendation Medals were awarded to Capt. Steven L. Blattner,

reopen Toyland tomorrow
When Capt. Peter T. Smith, Com-
manding Officer, Naval Station
Keflavik, joins with Santa Claus in
the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Toy-
land tomorrow at 10 a.m., it will
not only mark the reopening of that
popular facility, but it will sig-
nify the beginning of important im-
provements and additions to the
Navy Exchange facilities.
Besides the renovating of Toy-
land, the Navy Exchange is expanding
its warehouse space, will convert
the Viking Cafeteria into a family
restauraunt, and a book store is
going to be constructed in the
Mini Mart.
Parents of the NATO Base—hold on
to your children. A newly renovated
"better-than-ever" Toyland will open
its doors tomorrow and offer more
toys than ever before. The re-
modeling project of Toyland has been
