Father's Popular Comic
Dean Young was
born in Flushing,
New York, where he
was a state high
school swimming
champion. He now
lives in Clearwater
Beach, Florida,
where he's a two-
time state spear-
fishing champion.
Dean says the
wisest and most colorful man he ever
met was his father, Murat B. "Chic"
Young. It was the elder Young who
created the world's most popular
comic strip. Blondie is now read by
more than 100 million people in 33
languages and 55 countries.
Since his father's death, Dean has
carried on the Blondie strip with
Chic's long-time associate, Jim
Raymond.
