Mahan students earn Fire awards
Twenty-six students from the Ele-
mentary School and High School were
presented awards last week for their
Fire Prevention essays, slogans and
posters. The contest was held
in conjunction with Fire Prevention
Week and is designed to educate
students about fire-prevention and
fire safety.
First-place winners received a
cash prize, while the runner-ups
were awarded ten bowling coupons.
Glen Burk and Mary Cullison
ished first in the essay category
the Elementary School while
ys from Brannon Estes and Jasmin
'lebcigil earned second-place
honors.
Finishing first in the slogan

category were Kim Graves, Lane Beck
and Kerri Ireland. Wanda Eason,
Lori Tjomsland and Julie Simprini
finished second for their slogans.
The first-place posters were drawn
by Suzi Benedum and Maureen Niland.
Richard Sugg and Gus Nicometi drew
the second-place posters.
Lucy Reaux, Kelly Broderick and
Scott Carpenter were honored for
their first-place essays at the high
school. Jeff Twitchell, Chris Had-
dock and Thomas Dames designed
second-place posters.
The best posters for the High
School were made by Deanna Walton,
John LeVines and Mike Boyd, while
Erika Franke, Brad Mordan and Chris
Hoshour had second place posters.

Excess furniture on sale
A retail sale of excess house-
hold type furniture to Defense
Force Members will be held on Oct.
27 in building 866 from 9 a.m. to
noon.
Sales will be conducted on a
first come, first serve basis.
The furniture will be sold on as
is, where is basis, without re-
fund or exchange. Purchasers are
required to pay in U.S. dollars
and items must be removed immedia-
tely.
Patrons should ensure that all
items are stamped by the sales
clerk to identify them as being
sold.
Gas Station special next week
The Navy Exchange Gas Station
will offer a "Mileage-Master Ser-
vice" Special during Energy Aware-
ness Week, October 27 to November

buretor adjustment, distributor
point adjustment, and ignition
timing adjustment for $9.95.
