The three new ribbons are:

training;
- Air Force Recognition Ribbon awarded to recipients of special
trophies and awards as described in Air Force Regulation 900-29; and

New space center proposed. . .____________________________________________________________
Washington (AFNS) — A draft environmental impact statement on pro-
posed western states sites for the Consolidated Space Operations Center
has been filed with the Environmental Protection Agency. The center will
control satellite operations and direct future Department of Defense
space-shuttle operations.
The statement reports that building and operating the center at
either the Air Force-preferred site near Peterson AFB, Colorado, or the
alternative sites at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, or Malmstrom AFB, Montana,
will have little adverse environmental impact at any of the proposed
locations.
Comments should be submitted to the Department for Environment and
Safety, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force (SAF/MIQ), Washington
D.C. 20330, by December 15.
The final impact statement is scheduled to be filed in February
1981.
