Det. 4 celebrates
first anniversary
Detachment 4 personnel celebrated
the command's completion of it first
active year during an open house
November 25. The group was activj
in October 1979.
Detachment 4, 1913th Communic^
tions Group is organized under the"
Tactical Communications Area, Air
Force Communications Command and
works for the Air Forces Iceland
Commander.
According to Captain Shaffer, it
is a unique Air Force Communica-
tions unit whose responsibility is
to coordinate Air Forces Iceland
requirements with the Navy and to
manage all Air Force dedicated
communication systems in Iceland.
To accomplish this mission the
detachment has facilities located at
Roc lev ill e and Hofn.
As an Air Force Communications
unit the detachment is also
responsible for coordinating and
supervising the engineering and
installation of Air Force owned com-
munication equipment and systems.
Currently, there are 15 personnel
assigned with the detachment and in
January six additional people will
be assigned to the unit.
The Air Force Communications
Command Headquarters is located at
Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
The command engineers, installs,
operates and maintains communica-
tions, electronics and weather
equipment and facilities for th^
Air Force and selected agencies.
